It is not easy to carry something very heavy, is it? At some point, you would feel like dropping that particular thing that is if you made an effort to carry it in the first place.
Most people who lift weights perhaps in the gym or at a sporting event like the Olympics know for sure that it is a burden. Sometimes, some of those people suffer so much pain from having to lift such weights. If it burdens them so much, do you think that they would even want to try to help someone else carry theirs? I doubt. If this is the case, why then does the scripture ask us to bear one another's burden? Let's see the passage of scripture below.
"Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ." (Galatians 6:2)
It is not easy to bear the burden of another when yours have not been properly borne. No one would dare carry the cross of another when he hasn't finished carrying his. Some people are just concerned about bearing their burdens that they do not even care to know if some other people have burdens as well.
However, if we must fulfill the law of Christ which is to love one another as he told us to, then we are to bear one another's burden. It means to say, when a brother is overtaken by a fault (Galatians 6:1), we are to restore such a person in the spirit of meekness. It also means that we are not to think highly of ourselves and that we think we are not affected by other people's problems. (Galatians 6:3)
It means that in times of need, we are to share that which we have with those who do not have (Acts 2:42-47). By doing this, that is, bearing one another's burdens, we fulfill the law of Christ ( John 13:34, 35). The Lord bless his word in our hearts. Amen.
