How to Get God’s Attention Through Faith

How to Get God’s Attention Through Faith

In Scriptures, many experiences were recorded about the Faith of believers in God. In Hebrews 11:1, there is a special and defining mention of Faith as the Evidence of things not seen. One of these spectacular cases is of the woman with the issue of blood as recorded in Luke 8:43-48. The Bible says: A woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind Him and touched the edge of His cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. “Who touched me?” Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.” But Jesus said, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” The woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and…told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace”

It was not enough to have the woman come and leave the same way she had come. She needed attention just as a patient needs attention from a doctor. At the same time, there was a pressing crowd. Here, faith came as an option. This option made her to first, do something she had never done before. This is a reality. To get unusual attention, do something that has never been done. The same way, all through scriptures, everyone who did something unusual and practically ''crazy'' in the human sense ends up with testimonies. By deciding to try Jesus, she made a wise move to define her faith as stepping into the unknown and untried, finding God's grace at work in unexpected ways.

The woman also recognized her moment.  She knew that Jesus was visiting her town and may not pass through that town again. In the same way, there are ''God-moments'' in life when you have to overcome your fear and move out in faith. At this point, any delay or refusal to act will lead to a miss out on testimonies.

Opening the door for others by her unusual act was another thing recorded unto her. Up until her issue, no one in scripture had been healed by touching Jesus' garment. As such, her act of faith opened the door for others. In Matthew 14:35-36, we see that ''People brought all their sick to him and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed''.

God is looking for people who are willing to break traditions, protocols and rules to reach Him. He needs you to call His attention to certain situations before He can step in (Read Understanding Kings and Kingdoms to learn more about this).

When God finds people who call His attention through prayer, He uses them to open doors and new dimensions of His power, so that others might be blessed and made whole.
