Taking Dominion: How the Devil wants to Fight Believers today

Taking dominion simply means the act of taking charge, being in control, and being able to influence. It is the ability to exercise true power and authority. Jesus said “as long as I'm in the world, I'm the light of the world” (John 9:5). In other words, as long as He is in the world, the world is under His dominion. This is one reason why Christ reminded us, saying, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, …..and, lo, I am with you always … (Matt 28:18-20). By this scripture, is otherwise saying, go and show the world who I am, I am backing you up.

From the Days of Elias

Matt 3:1-6 (KJV);
“In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight…. Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins”
Even Jesus testify to this man (John), saying, although there were laws and prophets, but, since John began to preach the kingdom of God, the population of souls saved has been overwhelming (Luke 16:16, Matt 11.12).

What challenged me about this man are: first, this man appeared immediately after the intertestamental period (400 years of silence between the old and new testament) when there was no prophet sent from God.
Secondly, his ministry began majorly in the wilderness and not the city. Where the spiritual, economical, financial…, situation could be devastating. In fact, darkness might have been the normal day light, yet, at the appearance of this man, populations kept flooding in, even from the city because, they could see the bright light from wherever they were, like in the days of the wise men.

For us, what we do is to complain about every thing; our family, our town/city, our country or even the world at large. Many are dying daily, sinners are every where including our families, and the dark powers keep ruling through every sector (education, religion, economic, political etc.). My question is, “what are you doing with that person living inside of you?”(1 John 4:4). Which is the same spirit that quickened John throughout his ministry.

ARISE!
Take control, be in charge, Isaiah 60:1-3 says;

“Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising”

That verses concluded with “…and the gentiles shall come to thy light and the kings to the brightness of thy rising” I'm not saying you should go and start pastoral work. But, as John never went to the city to start a crusade, right there in your work place, amidst your family or friends and so on. Be in charge! Establish God’s Kingdom, let the light of God shine through you – in your character, conduct, communication and so on. Rather than complaining, your continuous intercessory prayer and/or evangelism to the lost souls goes a long way, because the earnest expectation of the creatures awaits your manifestation as a son of the living God (Rom 8:19-20).

God has purposefully placed you there, not just to eat, drink, watch movies, and get wealth, but, also to extend His kingdom on earth and ensure souls are saved. He is watching if you’re going to be that faithful servant or the wicked and slothful servant who didn't use the talents that was given him by his master (Matt 25:19-28).

The apostles said “it is not reasonable that we leave the word of God and serve tables… but, we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word” (Acts 6:2,4). Remember that you will give an account of all your deeds on earth (Rev 22:12).
BEFORE YOU GO!
The people ask Jesus, “what shall we do that we might work the works of God?”, but, He replied, “this is the work of God that ye believe on Him, whom He hath sent (John 6:28-29)”. That is to tell you that, you can’t do the work of the person you don’t know. Are you saved? The bible says “except a man be born again he can not see the kingdom of God (John 3:3)” except you are saved and have been tutored by Him, you can’t do an excellent Job for Him and your eternity is also at stake. Accept Him today, confess your sins, tell Him to cleanse you with His blood, ask for His grace for continuity and to be obedient. Jesus loves you!

If God gives you, the devil will fight it. But rejoice! The victory is ours - it’s certain.
