In the book of Jonah, we discover that Nineveh was about 550 miles East away from Jonah's location at the time God's word came to him. On the other hand, Tarshish was about 2,500 miles West away from him. Surprisingly, Jonah was not ready to go to Nineveh, a place where God would have gladly provided the fare with ease to help him deliver a simple assignment. On the contrary, Jonah was ready to pay the fare to go far to Tarshish in the West.
Like Jonah in Jonah 1:1-7, many people consciously hear the word of God but do not take appropriate steps towards its fulfillment.
