Things to Know about God: Gospel Today Devotional - 16th October, 2022

If you were told to say one or two things about yourself, that would be very easy for you, isn't it? What if you were told to say something about your father or mother, sister or brother, husband or wife, your kids, etc, that still wouldn't be an issue for you, right?

Why is this possible? Because over the years, you have been able to learn about yourself and those very close to you through constant interaction and close observation.

In a similar manner, it is expedient that the believer be able to describe and say things about his God that would make people truly know that of a truth he knows him(the Lord).

The scripture leaves the believer with so many things to say about the Supreme Being; One great in power and mighty in deeds. Captured below are some out of the many things you can get to know about God,

"As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the Lord is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him". (Psalm 18:30)

As for God ( the Creator of the universe; the One great in power and mighty in deeds; the Supreme, Eternal being; the One who by the words of his mouth made all there is to be seen; etc), his way is perfect ( no spot, no imperfection, there's no disappointment with him, he will not compromise, there's no unfaithfulness in him; he does everything perfectly).

Then it says, the word of the Lord is tried ( tested and proven to be consistently true; no lie in it, when spoken, would surely come to pass), and finally, he is a buckler ( a shield, a strong defence) to all those that trust him ( that is, who through faith have come to believe in him; and in him, are still believing).

Isn't this amazing? It is indeed wonderful for the believer to know that the way of his God is perfect, his words have been tested and proven to be consistently true(tried), and that he is a buckler (shield) to the believer( because he trusts in him). May the Lord bless his words in our hearts. Amen.
