God is All Knowing: Gospel Today Devotional - 18th December, 2023

KNOWING GOD SERIES

No man in earth has a perfect knowledge about things. He may be highly knowledgeable, no doubt about that but to say he knows all things will be a lie indeed. Why? Because that ability to know all things belongs to God alone. He alone has what is called perfect knowledge. Man only gets to know because he learns, and except he learns, he cannot know. God however does not need to learn before knowing. He just knows. He knows everything there was to know, he knows everything there is to know, and knows everything there is to come. No one in earth can know as God knows. His knowledge is infinite.

God is All Knowing: Gospel Today Devotional - 18th December, 2023

Men need to be told before they know. To know, they need to be informed, enlightened, tutored, but not God. He needs no one to tell him. He needs no one to inform him nor enlighten him before he knows. He doesn't need a clue to know. He just knows, and he doesn't know in part, God has a perfect knowledge of everything. This you must know that you cannot hide anything from God. He knows all. He will just know. He has always known. This is another one of God's essential attributes. He is the all knowing God. Praise God.

We have talked about the fact that God is Almighty (omnipotent), we have talked about the fact that God is all seeing (omnipresent), and now we want to establish the fact that God is all knowing (omnipresent). The series has indeed been enlightening, and I trust the Lord to bless our hearts today. Amen. The passages to be considered are seen below,

"For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things" (1 John 3:20)."O Lord , thou hast searched me, and known me . [2] Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off. [3] Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways. [4] For there is not a word in my tongue, but , lo, O Lord , thou knowest it altogether. [5] Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me. [6] Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it" (Psalm 139:1-6).

I would like you to read through the text again so you will get exactly what it is we are talking about. Have you done that? There's something I want to point to your attention. The last statement in the first text, it states a fact, and what is that fact? That God knows all thing. Did you see that? Meaning that God has knowledge of everything. There's nothing he does not know whether it was in the past, now in the present, and in time to come. God knows all things. In other words, it means to say that God has perfect knowledge. Glory God. Can you say my God knows all things?

Let's go to the second text, and this is what I want you to know, the fact that the second text is a proof or better put a testimony to what the first text affirms. It is a witness of the fact that God does truly know all things. You would discover how it is that the Psalmist makes use of the words known (past), knows (present). Nothing is hid from God. He has always known. He knows, and will continue to know. He knows everything about you.

And what was the conclusion of the Psalmist? That the Knowledge of God was too wonderful for him, and that he could not attain (understand it). God is all knowing. Having known this about God, it is expected that as sons, we live our lives with the mind that he knows all what we do whether in the secret or in the open. Second of all, that God knows what it we are passing through, and he would not leave us helpless, he knows what we have passed through, he will yet help us, and knows what we would go through, and he will not abandon us. May this word stay in our hearts. Amen.

Thought for the Day

God knows what you have been through, what you are going through, and what you would go through. He is all knowing. He will not leave you helpless.
