It is only when you come to know who a person is to you that you're able to tell of his power, and might and what influence he has over your life, isn't it? You may still be very much abused or treated in a way that is not just but will still be unable to come out of it because you lack this basic knowledge that someone is there to help you.
Having said that, if as a student, you are being bullied by a much more older student in school, and you refuse to come to the understanding of the fact that there's someone to whom when you report things would get better, you may end up being bullied consistently because your freedom lies in that knowledge that someone is there for you whose strength you can rely on.
That's the same way it is with believers as well. The devil uses every opportunity to make us feel as though we are helpless, without strength, and that no one can really help us which of course is a lie, and this happens because we do not know who the Lord is to us, and what we have in him. Let's see the verse of scripture below,
"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" (Psalm 27:1).
Until you come to understand certain things, and walk in the light of the knowledge you have about God, you may forever remain in a state of helplessness, weariness, discouragement, and fear. It was Bishop David Oyedepo who said we need deep enough knowledge to really get a hold of kingdom realities (paraphrased). That's the truth, isn't it? It is.
We need to understand therefore as believers who the Lord is to us, and let the understanding of that knowledge grant us the victory we deserve as believers in the Lord. Praise God. Just as the scripture says above, we need understand as believers that God is our light, and our salvation, that is, the one who directs our path, dispels darkness, and deliver us from all that is not of him. So we need not be afraid of darkness or its works, and any situation that poses itself too strong for us.
Second of all that the Lord is the strength of our life, the one on whom our life depends, and as a result, finds no situation as being too difficult for us or out of our control not that we are strong in ourselves but that the Lord is the strength we have. This way, we take our rightful place as believers, possessing the right mindset. The Lord is your light, and your salvation. He is also the strength of your life. Having known this, whom shall you fear? Of whom shall you be afraid? The Lord help us all. Amen.
Thought for the day; The Lord God is your light and salvation, and he is as well the strength of your life. You need not be afraid.
