In life's journey, many things may be there to make us afraid. Sometimes we are afraid about the future, about our health, we fear for our loved ones, we fear things may not go the exact way we have planned, and that things may happen which was never bargained for. These create so much fear in our hearts, and as a result, sometimes, we lose focus of that which is necessary.
This at the same time takes even away the strength we have to do the things we must. Imagine a child of two who was told by his father to go sleep in a room all by himself. The child who on his part is afraid to sleep alone will hesitate to go into the room. How do you think he would feel if his father says to him not to worry that he was going to sleep in the room with him? He would not be afraid anymore, don't you think? Of course.
The scripture is filled with encouraging words from the Lord, that which tells us that he is our Father, and he is ever interested in us and is always with us hence, no need to be afraid, and the need to look to him for strength, now and always. The scripture below talks more about that,
Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. (Isaiah 41:10).
The verse above is saying we shouldn't be afraid, why? Because we have not been given the spirit of fear, and according to the text, he who has not given us the spirit of fear is with us to help us.
He not only says not to be afraid but also not to be dismayed (never to be moved by any situation regardless), why? Because he is with us, to guide and to lead, to hold our hands, and to order our steps.
Then the Lord tells us that which he would do, and also reasons why we shouldn't be afraid nor dismayed. He tells us that he will strengthen us(meaning there's provision for that which is needed to be able to combat the challenges we face), he will help us(we're not alone, and he is ever with us to help us), that he would uphold us with the right of his righteousness.
Dear believer, having understood the mind of God, and the fact that he is always with you, the fact that he will strengthen, help, and uphold you with the right hand of his righteousness, do you still need to live in fear? The Lord says to you today, fear thou not.
Daily Nugget: Are you afraid, and dismayed about life as a believer? The Lord says in his word to you, fear thou not.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for your word. I'm glad to know that you are always there to help me. Only let me look to you alone, never to be afraid. Amen.
