Blessed the name of the who Lord who indeed is worthy to be praised. May his name be praised even forever. Amen. Today's study opens with this question, have you ever been in a position to help another but did not? Just ponder that.
Helping other people can be one of the good things we do, isn't it? It is one thing to know that this is good, but it is another to do the good that you know it is good to do. If therefore you refuse to do good when you know that is a good thing to do, will you say you have done right? Let's examine the passage of Scripture below,
"Therefore to him, that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin". ( James 4:17)
This scripture explains the fact that it is possible to know that a thing is good, that doing that good thing is good, but that the good thing may never be done by the one who sees it as good. Does this surprise you? This is how many of us live as believers.
It says therefore that the one who knows to good ( having identified that a thing is good) but still refuses to do it, to him is sin. It would have been different if he didn't know. There could have been an excuse if ignorance was responsible. That is so not the case. He knows but refuses to do what he knows is good.
While this tells that this is how many of us live as believers, another lesson we can see from here as believers is that having known that a thing is good and that doing that thing is good, we should do the good we can, however we can, anywhere we can, and for anyone, we can, and that, by the help of God.
Daily Nugget: Do you know that a thing is good and that doing that thing is good but refuse to do it? He who knows a thing is good but refuses to do it, to him, it is sin.
Prayer: Lord, help me not just to know that thing is good and that doing it is good, but that I may by your grace do the good I can at all times.
