The Spirit's Witness: Gospel Today Devotional - 5th August, 2022

There are times people begin to doubt themselves about things they were very convinced about, and sometimes the desire is genuine, as they want to be sure indeed.

This explains the reason many people ask the question, how do I know I am saved? Sometimes, it is someone who asks another person the reason he thinks he is saved. What assured you? Who told you? These and many more are the questions that sometimes believers struggle with.

The Spirit's Witness: Gospel Today Devotional - 5th August, 2022

Those who ask themselves these questions do so out of genuine concern to know. The scripture however answers in the verse below,

"The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God". (Romans 8:16).

How do I know I am saved? How do you know you're saved? The answer is this, the Spirit of God bears witness with your spirit. The spirit of God tells you that you are. The Spirit of God is your witness.

Are you a child of God? What makes you think you are a child of God? Because the Spirit of God bears witness with your spirit that you are.

The knowledge given to you by his Spirit that you're no longer the person you once were is your proof. It is your assurance. You have the Spirit's witness. You're saved because God's Spirit bears witness with your spirit. You are his child because his Spirit bears witness with your spirit. This is your assurance; the Spirit's witness.

Daily Nugget: The Spirit of God is your witness that you are indeed a child of God.

Prayer: Lord, thank you for giving your Spirit as a witness to me. Thank you because I know now by your Spirit that I am saved indeed.
