The scripture is filled with injunctions to trust in the Lord. The Lord over, and over again commanded in his word that men should put their trust in him. The Psalmist explained the importance as well. If one would read through the book of Psalms, one will discover the very wonderful instructions to trust in the Lord and the ever-abiding benefits that come with it.
The Lord in today's devotional would be opening us up to one of the lessons in the book of Psalms. It is indeed something that as believers we are exhorted to do. I trust that the Lord through his word today makes that which he wants us to see real to us indeed.
Having this mind that there are times we become tired as a result of the challenges we face and that we sometimes are faint in heart as a result of this, the Psalmist leaves you, and me with an exhortation that would help us in those trying times. It is seen in the verse of scripture below,
"Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord". (Psalm 27:14).
We would by the grace of God be looking closely at this exhortation by the Psalmist. First, he says to wait on the Lord, meaning that there may be times when it seems as though we are in a situation that cannot be helped, where it is as though nothing good is going to come out of it, or whatever the issue may be, the Psalmist says we should even at those times wait on the Lord( seek him, and wholly trust him for victory in such trying moments).
Second of all, he says to be of good courage, meaning we are not just to wait on the Lord with doubt and uncertainty, but to do that in faith (courage in such trying times that he who has promised is faithful also to do it).
He then gives us the result of our actions (waiting on the Lord with good courage), that if we would at such times trust in him, and courageously face the situation, the Lord himself will strengthen our hearts(and he shall strengthen thine heart). Then finally, he makes an emphasis what he said already, to indeed wait on the Lord.
I trust that the Lord through this today has blessed a soul, and this I say on a final note, that when all seems uneasy and quite challenging, I exhort you all just like the Psalmist to wait on the Lord, be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart: wait, I say, on the Lord. The Lord help us all. Amen.
Daily Nugget: Dear believer, whatsoever the situation may be, the Lord through his word commands you to wait on him with good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart. Wait on the Lord. Do not lose heart.
Prayer: Lord, I pray today that when faced with challenges and when troubled, help never to lose heart but to wait on you indeed. Amen.
