Knowing Who Has Called You: Gospel Today Devotional - 21st March 2023

While it is important to know that we have been called, it is important to know to whom we have been called. This in a sense tells us that we are answerable to someone else and are to do all we do with that person in mind.

Take, for instance, if a child intends to do something bad for example, knowing he is answerable to his parents, he may want to reconsider his actions cause if he does anything that contradicts his family values and principles, he may have to hurt them. Did you get the picture? Let's see the passage of scripture below:

"Paul, an apostle, (not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead;)" --Galatians 1:1

The apostle Paul made this clear in his opening statement to the saints in Galatia that his calling in this case, as an apostle, was not of men and neither was it by man but by Jesus Christ and God the Father. He knew of his call and who had called him.

This I believe is important so that we know to who we owe our service. If we know that our calling is not of men nor by men, then we know that we are not to do anything to please anyone other than the one who has called us unto himself.

Although Paul talks about his call as an apostle, we must bear in mind that we have been called by God to live for him (1 Peter 2:9). Having this in mind, we are to live our lives wholly for God. The Lord blesses his word in your hearts. Amen.

Thought for the Day: As a believer, do you know who has called you? If yes, are you living wholly for him?
