Unashamed of the Gospel by Jude Mark Samuel

Unashamed of the Gospel by Jude Mark Samuel

UNASHAMED OF THE GOSPEL
(A Poetry of Saul of Tarsus)
Romans 1¹⁶

His name is Saul, a man from Tarsus,
He came to haul, the Name of Jesus,
I saw him crawl, en route to Damascus,
Such a man is expressly overzealous.

He proceeded with much delight,
He must be there before the night,
Half way through, he met the Light,
His ploy overturned without a fight.

The story line was changed on this day,
The Ancient of Days thus altered his way,
Saul must now do His work beginning today,
Without delay he was led by the hand away.

This man was blinded by the divine light,
What should help has removed his sight,
Saul was blind knowing not his left from right,
The broad daylight is now darker than the night.

The lion has fallen in the prime of his life,
Single man with neither kids nor wife,
He journeyed three years to the wildlife,
For a honeymoon with the Word of Life.

He returned with unction falling like the rain,
Those who knew him viewed him with disdain,
Those he had jailed still do writhe in pain,
He is God’s man, they sought to kill him in vain.

He was brief in stature, but so full of grace,
Cared not for the future, but faced the race,
For the work set ahead of him he did up-brace,
To the glory set before him, he did set his face.

Paul, a new man, saved by the Gospel,
Homeless here, but building an eternal castle,
For his wasted years, God had given him double,
A seat with Christ beyond the reach of every devil.

Paul who previously opposed the faith zealously,
Now shamelessly projects the Christ graciously,
The Lawyer transformed to a Tent-maker obviously,
It is the power of God that works in him seriously.

A man who as a Pharisee had a great profile,
Passionate for the Law of Moses, yet very docile,
Has been converted by the Lord to a keen missile,
Saul of Tarsus, made an Apostle to the Gentiles.

He preached the Gospel of Christ without shame,
Venerating the Name of He who did him tame,
Expounding the saving power of that Name,
The very Name of Jesus brought him fame.
