How to Start Your Gospel Music Career in Nigeria

Music is an important part of worship and praise to God. God has created humans with the ability to sing and create music . Ephesians 5:19 says, " Addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the lord with your heart." 

The journey to starting a career in gospel music requires hard work , dedication and most importantly a heart for God.




The purpose of gospel music is to glorify God and to share the message of salvation all over the world. However , it can be easy to get caught up in the glamour and fame and lose your focus and purpose as a gospel singer. This is why you need to evaluate your priorities and seek guidance from God. The book of Psalms 96: 1 - 2 says, " Sing to the lord a new song, all the earth . Sing to the lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. So when you're starting out in gospel music , make sure you're doing it for the right reasons ; to worship God and proclaim his goodness all over the world . Ensure that your music is pleasing to God. 

How to get started in your gospel music career?

1. Develop your singing ability

Being able to sing is a beautiful gift and working to improve your singing voice takes balance, coordination and the right exercises 

Start by learning the basics of vocal technique. You can also take voice lessons or work with a vocal coach who specializes in gospel music. Also consistent practice makes you better at what you're practicing. Having a good music mentor is very important in your music career. A good role model or mentor will be some who is experienced in the gospel music industry and is willing to share their knowledge with you.
