Your love is a reflection of your service to him

While reading John 21:15-17, I could feel Peter's frustration. Jesus asks Peter three times, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" And each time, Peter responds affirmatively. If we were in Peter's shoes, especially as members of the Gen Z generation, we might have challenged Jesus, saying, "Don't you think I've proven my love for you by leaving everything to follow you? Don't you understand the emotional torture I went through seeing you arrested?"

But Jesus is not unaware of Peter's love for Him. He's trying to bring awareness to Peter's consciousness that his genuine love for Jesus should propel him to fulfill the assignment Jesus has for him. Jesus wants Peter to understand that his love should give him a hunger to share Jesus' burden.

This brings me to the conclusion that as Christians, if we lose our hunger for soul winning, we should check our hearts and see if we still love Christ. We should understand that God wants to show our love for Him by constantly representing Him on earth. Our love for Jesus should drive us to share His message, care for His people, and fulfill His purpose.

Furthermore, Jesus' conversation with Peter highlights the importance of obedience. Jesus tells Peter to "feed my lambs" and "take care of my sheep." This shows that our love for Jesus should be demonstrated through our obedience to His commands.

Additionally, Jesus' repetition of the question "do you love me?" emphasizes the importance of self-reflection. We should regularly examine our hearts and ask ourselves if we truly love Jesus. This self-reflection helps us to stay focused on our purpose and to ensure that our actions align with our love for Him.

In conclusion, Jesus' conversation with Peter is a reminder that our love for Him should be demonstrated through our actions, not just our words. We should continually ask ourselves, "Do I love Jesus enough to share His burden?" and "Am I obeying His commands and representing Him well on earth?"
