Christian Fiction: The Job Description (Part 1)

There was a supermarket in my neighborhood; one I desired to work at. My dream was to have one of mine, always on the road to get goods and manage many orders at once.

On my way to submit an application letter at that supermarket, a man came to me. I didn't want to give him any attention because I was in a hurry, but he looked very calm and harmless to respond
to.

"Hi ma'am. Please, can I have five minutes of your time?" I checked my wristwatch and was ready for the impromptu conversation.

"Thank you, ma'am. Actually, my boss needs a manager for a huge business, involving establishing centers all over the world. The business is full-time as it will require always being ready to take up emergencies and settle corporate issues even at night. ..." He paused and saw my reluctant face.

Sincerely speaking, when he said it was a huge business involving traveling around, I was super-joyed. But immediately he mentioned full-time, I canceled the idea in my head. I knew that was not for me. I never thought of having to work in any full-time job at all.

He smiled and continued.

"There is already a special package and an official car for whoever is willing to take up this job. But first, the person will have to go to the company and take up the job description for proper study." He paused again.

I looked at the man's face, looked at my application letter, and looked back at him. I just smirked.

What a day! So, I will forsake my dream job for a man I know not? Oh, what a day! I thought.

"Alright. Permit me to appreciate you first for spotting me and even thinking that I can be the kind of person your boss needs, considering the fact that you don't know me from Adam. As you see here, in my hands, is my application letter for my dream job, but sincerely speaking, your offer sounds very juicy. If I heard you correctly, you mentioned that this job includes traveling around the world, right?"

"No ma'am. What I said is establishing centers all over the world but ..."

"Eh... same thing!" I interrupted him because I was on the edge of changing my mind already as time passed by.

"So, I decide now to give you and this your boss the benefit of the doubt. I will follow you now to your company, abi, your boss's company and get whatever is necessary. HOWEVER, I'm holding you by your word, or should I say, your promise."

"Awesome! I can assure you one hundred percent that you will never ever regret it. As long as you take your time to study and follow the job description strictly, the rewards are inevitable."

"That settles it! Shall we?" When I meant that I was in a hurry, it was an understatement.

"Absolutely!" He took the lead immediately. I could tell that he was rejoicing because he grinned all the way to the company.

So surprisingly, the company was just at the end of the same street that my supermarket was on. However, the differences in their outer looks were so clear. This company was not so explicit in the exterior decoration as compared to the supermarket. I was so close to giving a rough conclusion until I entered the building. ...

'My God!' was all I could say. You indeed don't judge a book by its cover. My mind was blown away, by the west wind that parted the Red Sea this time. Everything was nothing but neat, orderly and in heavenly colors of light blue, white and gold. I felt at home immediately, as if I had always belonged here, but I could not explain it. I noticed that most of the workers were either focused on their work, smiling at one another, or helping one another out. It was ...

"Shall we proceed to where you would get your job description?"

"This man is so good at distracting someone's thoughts shaa." I muttered.

... expect part 2 in two days.
