Christian Fiction: The Job Description (Part 3)

RECALL: PART TWO

“I’m sorry for cutting you short but I have lost you now. What do you mean by I have been malfunctioning for one year?” My tears started drying up as I became confused.

“Okay ma’am. That is why I am here. Can you recall and tell me what happened to your business for the past one year?”

“Yes, ma, but it is a long story.”

“Don’t worry. I’m right here, till we get you back on track.”

Wow!

PART THREE

“Okay ma. It all started when I first sat down to study that document – it was all gibberish. I could not interpret nor understand whatever was written in it, except the cover pages. So, I decided to gather whatever I could understand, like be generous and don’t lie. I started living by them until I got fed up, as I realized that the promise of traveling the world wasn’t what I was getting at all. I even got more annoyed that no one from the company called to check up on how I was faring or even managing their branch.

“So, I decided to drop the idea of following that document, and drew out my former personal plan with its timely and structured strategies. And guess what, ma? They’ve been working for one year now. …”

“Hmm-hmm?” This was the first time MERCY interrupted.

“Oh yes, ma. In fact, I got help from the most skilled man I’d ever met, as if he was sent to me personally. I was out one day to get some raw materials for my plan when he met me and realized that we were getting the same materials. Since then, we’ve been partners. …”

“… and you nearly, or even totally, forgot about who gave or how you got this job at first?”

This time, I was truly silent. How far have I gone?

“Really far, my sister, far enough to change masters.”

I was shocked to the ground. Did she just hear my thought?

“My lady, to truly obtain any service from the MERCY unit, sincerity is the line — emotions or frank words. A double-sided mind cannot get anything from here. I apologize for startling you.”

I bowed my head in shame.

“So, what is the name of this new partner?”

ALTERNATIVE, ma.” That silence again.
I don’t think I like it when MERCY is silent on me o.

“Actually, I was quiet because that man lied to you. His name is DECEIT, because he gives whatever glitters, as long as it distracts you from attending to the gold in your hand. Gorrit?”

“No, ma.” What exactly is this woman saying?

“I’ll explain. According to your job description, you should have been trained in Germany and Spain for six months each, and started your own business under our name properly in the second year with nothing less than two million and all raw materials provided by the company herself to you as a member.

“Now tell me, has this ever happened in the past two years for you?”

The tears gathered again, from nowhere.

“No ma, I have been busy with DECEIT…”

Busy doing nothing. This is what I called malfunctioning the last time. Even in those times when you struggled with understanding the document, we could still see you but barely. We didn’t reach out then because we knew that you would call us very soon, as stated in your job description …”

“Your job description! Your job description! Why not call it contract? What is the big deal about this document sef?” I burst out in frustration.

“Well, your document is peculiar to you, that is, no one has a similar document as yours. It is a personal document with every detail of your own strengths, weaknesses, fashion of work, kind of customers, time for training, and many others. Whoever takes his or her time to study that document will definitely find REST because it has been settled in white and black. …”

“I am sorry to cut this call but I need some time by myself. I’m burdened with sorrows. Please, can you end this call? It has been over one hour and my lunch is very cold. I sincerely apologize for sounding rude but …”

“No, no, I totally understand you. I’ll send you the boss’s number immediately I drop the call. Please do take your time to study your description again and call the INTERPRETER for better understanding. His line is on page 2 under the content list. …”

That one was there as well? Ah God! Two years wasted … I could not hold the tears again. I just ended the call myself and sank to the floor.

Not long after, DECEIT came knocking at my door, but I refused to answer because I knew the whole truth now.

“That bastard! God curse you!” I shouted in great anguish.

Two hours of great thinking, staring and reflecting on the past. I finally summoned the courage to call the boss.

“MY CHILD, I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOUR CALL. WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG?”

His cool, welcoming, life-filled, and reviving voice made me shed even greater tears (after I concluded that I was done crying).

LORD JESUS, I JAVE WRONGED YOU. I HAVE WALKED THE PATH OF DEATH. BUT JESUS, FORGIVE ME. I BELIEVE YOU DIED FOR ME AND ROSE UP TO HEAVEN ON THE THIRD DAY, JUST TO GIVE ME A REASON TO LIVE. I ACCEPT YOU AS MY PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOR. WRITE MY NAME IN THE BOOK OF LIFE. THANK YOU JESUS BECAUSE I BELIEVE I AM FORGIVEN. AMEN.

Congratulations! You are now a new man (2 Cor. 5:17). You are now a Christian.
