RIGHTEOUS LEADERS, RIGHTEOUS LIVING

Being quite a long time I wrote, because of my academics. Nevertheless, this has been on my heart to share for few weeks now:

Indeed, righteousness exalts a nation (Prov. 14:34). It makes a whole lot of difference when a true son of God is the one leading. It makes so much sense when the ruler is God's anointed.

For sure , most African countries can relate to the fact that the farther light-bearers are to the government seats, the darker and tougher national matters become. In fact, it is a story of "from frypan to fire".

Let us not deceive ourselves any longer. We are long too convinced that GREAT CAPACITY (or long experience in leadership) without the Holy Ghost is GREAT CONFUSION. Why?! It is simply because it is clearly written that He (the Holy Ghost) is the One that gives understanding and shows direction.

Alright, it seems we are looking at the government alone. Let's come down to family. A child of a father without the Holy Spirit will suffer confusion. Even though, the father is a CEO of one of the most reputable companies in the States, the child will have to learn the way of 'making-it', following the steps of his father (or not), without any sense of understanding nor fulfilment.

One bitter truth I had to learn in my little life is that, YOU CAN'T GIVE WHAT YOU DON'T HAVE, NO MATTER HOW INTENTIONAL OR EMOTIONAL YOU ARE.

You don't expect a leader to give you what you need when he himself is in lack. A father who suffered sibling rival may not sense, not to talk of, handle matters among his children. A president who grew up in a broken environment may not change the nation.

To put a balance to this, it is written that from the heart comes the issues of life (Prov. 4:23). A leader who saw hell but wants to establish heaven must have changed his heart against the hell he saw, WITH NEW DECISIONS MADE. You cannot be wishing a change without planning for it.

As a lady, you saw your mother marry different men, and you know how it affected you as a child, but you don't want the same for your own children. What are you doing differently about it now?

As a governor, you saw so many wrongs in your state while growing up, but now that you are in power, you want a change. What plans have you made and effected since you got there?

In Nehemiah 13, Nehemiah traveled back to Artaxerxes, the king of Babylon, and came back, only to see backwardness - priests went back to farming, instead of serving; a stranger (Tobiah) had undenied access to the Temple's storehouse; foreigners were selling to Israelites on the Sabbath.

What did he do? First, he got angry, as many times as possible. But he translated his emotions to actions - changing the leaders, and sending back foreigners away. He only had one vision, which was to restore the glorious originality of Israel, as it was in the days of Moses and David. This led to righteous living among all indigenes.

Let's stop deceiving ourselves.

Leaders affect our living.

Followers, choose wisely.

Leaders, think differently.

Selah!
