Bishop Ayegbusi Emerges Ondo PFN Chair

In a keenly contested election devoid of the usual intrigues associated with political and social elections in Nigeria, the Founder and General Overseer of Flame of Fire World Outreach Inc., Oba-Akoko, Bishop Wale Ayegbusi, has emerged as the incoming chairman of the Ondo State chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN).

With his election, Bishop Ayegbusi becomes the first PFN state chairman to emerge from outside Akure, the state capital, since the fellowship's inception.

As reported by The HOPE Newspapers, the electoral process, which was conducted in a collegiate format, was carried out in two stages. The first round involved PFN local government chairmen from across Ondo State, who were assembled to rate the six contestants for the chairmanship on a scale of 1 to 10, based on ten (10) criteria. These included spiritual capacity, family life, leadership capability, health, financial capacity, character, charisma, acceptability, among others.

At the end of the first round, Bishop Ayegbusi emerged winner in 10 local government areas, while his closest rival won in five. Three other contestants won in one local government area each, while the last contestant did not win in any local government.

The second and final round featured three finalists, who faced a collegiate body of fathers of faith in the state, all of whom have spent over 40 years in ministry.

At the conclusion of the process, Bishop Ayegbusi was again declared the winner.

Before the final declaration, the results of the election were forwarded to the National Vice Chairman (South-West) of the PFN, Bishop Taiwo Adelakun, for ratification.

In ratifying the outcome, Bishop Adelakun represented by the Ogun and Ekiti State PFN chairmen, Apostle David Bello Otaru and Bishop Kayode Kolade Àjàyí, respectively declared that the electoral system adopted by the Ondo PFN would serve as a model for the election of chairmen in South-West PFN states.

Other state executive officers were selected from among the remaining contestants for the chairmanship position.

In an exclusive interview with The HOPE, the incoming PFN chairman described the process that produced him as "very credible."

"Our fathers of faith made a very loud statement that the Ondo PFN is for all," he said."They clearly demonstrated that PFN in Ondo State, regardless of past or present circumstances, is based on merit and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

"PFN is not about a particular region or zone. With my election, it is now evident that the PFN chairmanship can come from outside the state capital. Every zone in Ondo State owns PFN, and leadership can emerge from anywhere. This is a clear and powerful message from the fathers of faith."

He also expressed gratitude to the National Vice President, Bishop Taiwo Victor Adelakun, and the National President, His Eminence Bishop Francis Wale Oke, as well as the outgoing state chairman, Bishop Joshua Kolawole Opayinka.

"I also appreciate all the local government chairmen and members of the State Advisory Council for the confidence reposed in me," he added
