Goodness: The Nature of God

In Genesis 3:1-2 and verses 4-5 respectively, we read about how the serpent, who was the craftiest of all the creatures the Lord  had made, came to the woman. His motive was to deceive man into eating of the fruit in the garden and sadly, man fell for his tricks. Since this fall of man, Satan has engaged crafty and silly reasons to make man believe that God is angry or needs to be cajoled at all times so that He would not harm you. Sometimes, the devil even makes people feel like God is a liar, just like he told Eve. The question to ask is as regards whether or not this is true? What then is really God's nature?

Goodness: The Nature of God

A straight response to this lies in God's word to us as recorded in Psalms 145:8-9. God is presented in the reality of character to be a personality who is kind, merciful, slow to anger and full of love. Verse 9 further describes God as good to everyone, with His compassion cutting across everything He does. This is one revelation of whom God really is.

God is not angry with you. Of a truth, there may be times when you fall into disobedience and feel unworthy that you are tempted to think you are going to be left out of God’s blessings. But don’t believe that. Remember, the Scripture says if you will call on Him, He will raise you back up into fellowship with Him. The Bible says,"He is good to all".

One interesting man in the Bible was David. His life was exemplary as explained in our article here that even in the days when people still envisioned God as an angry entity who you shouldn't mess with anyhow, David still saw that God that He is good enough to deliver him from the uncircumcised philistine. 1 Samuel 17:37 says, “The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine.” David did not only know about the goodness of God, he had seen it work in his life. He had seen the victories which God’s goodness had gained for him, and just thinking of them made him bold.

God’s desire is for us to feel so good when we get up in the morning that we cannot help but be grateful for a well body that functions faithfully and feels so good! His desire is that we get to our workplace and we experience peace all around,His desire for us is to live long! God's desire is that we have everything we need for a good life.His desire is that we should live with nothing missing and nothing broken!

God wants to bless you too—in every area of your life. He wants to bless you spiritually. He wants to bless you physically. He wants to bless you in your finances, in your relationships and in your career. He wants to give you the desires of your heart.

This might sound too good to be true, but that’s not surprising. If you think about it, Jesus Himself seemed too good to be true. The fact that God sent Him to pay the price for all our sins, the fact that He died so we could live by simple faith Him, sounds too good to be true. But it’s true nonetheless. And Romans 8:32 says, “He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?” This is enough reason for you to know that God wants the best of the best for you!

Ecclesiastes 3:12-13

[12]So I conclude that, first, there is nothing better for a man than to be happy and to enjoy himself as long as he can;

[13]and second, that he should eat and drink and enjoy the fruits of his labors, for these are gifts from God.

"God's goodness is His gift to us".
