As believers in Christ, it is important to bear this in mind, that it is never a mistake to know God, and to live for him. Yes, there may be times we would be faced with challenges, there may be difficulties along the way. It may sometimes not be easy, and sometimes we may have to stand alone if that happens to be the only option. Even then, we are to note that he who has called us is faithful to see us through each step of the way.
The apostle Paul in one of his letters, that to the Corinthian Church, particularly his first epistle, he made this truth known, and gave an exhortation to the Church in Corinth. This means that the apostle Paul while writing to them perhaps had thoughts about the Christian walk as one with challenges but that's not the point. The point is the one who has called us is able to see us through.
If we know that he who has called us is able to see us through, what then are we expected to do? What should be our responsibility? How do we walk consistently with the Lord without getting wearied or ever thinking to go back? The answer is seen in the exhortation below,
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:58).
Though there may be challenges, it may not be easy, and even though we may have to stand alone, as we walk through this path, the apostle Paul gives us this exhortation which we shall consider in the following paragraphs.
Speaking to us as believers(therefore my beloved brethren), meaning those who are of the same faith as I, be steadfast, unmoveable(do not relent in your commitment, do not lose heart, do not be tired nor weary, do not consider despising the faith, do not compromise your stand, stand your ground, look ever to the one who is able to keep you, do not move), always abounding in the work of the Lord(keep doing your work for him, keep loving him, keep proclaiming his name, keep reaching out to people in his name, caring for them, and showing them love unfeigned all to the glory of God), forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord( do this because you know he rewards those who stay with him, because he will not forget your labour of love, because he is able to keep you, and to bless your for your labour abundantly).
Dear believer, do you feel tired or wanting to give up? Are you so troubled that you think you have had enough, and you can't take it anymore? Do you think God has forgotten your labour of love? I bring to you the word of God today, and I exhort you dear believer in the name of the Lord Jesus to be steadfast, immoveable, continuing still in his work because your labour is never in vain in the Lord. The Lord help us all. Amen.
Thought for the day:
The Lord is too faithful to forget you labour of love; continue therefore in him.
