Are you Faithful?: Gospel Today Devotional - 19th November, 2023

It is important that we use to the uttermost that which we have been given. Take for instance, someone gives you a thousand naira to get something for him worth a thousand naira, it is expedient that you do as he tells you to, isn't it? Yes, of course. It is expected that you buy those things that are worth the amount of money he gives to you. Praise God. The illustration here is just to point our attention to that which the Lord has in store for us today. This we will get to see as we continue in the study. Praise God.

Are you Faithful?: Gospel Today Devotional - 19th November, 2023

Let's say you are to learn a trade or acquire a skill. You would have to learn under  someone, right? And automatically, that person becomes your boss. As a student under his leadership, you're to do all he tells you to do, and also make sure that you give of your best in serving him. It is expected that you're to serve him with the knowledge he feeds you with, and you're to do so faithfully. Praise God.

Today, we shall be seeing something very important, how that the Lord has committed something into our hands, and by this, I mean the gifts he has given to each, and everyone, and he expects that we use that which he has given to us as faithful stewards. I trust the Lord to help us understand. The passage of scripture under consideration is seen below,

Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. [2] Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.(1 Corinthians 4:1,2).

A steward is one whose hands the properties of another has been committed for effective management. He is therefore expected to keep that which has been given to him in such a way that the one who gives it to him finds him faithful, and trustworthy. Knowing fully well that what you have is not your own, and that it is another's, and you have been placed as a custodian over such, you're to with all diligence see to it that it is properly managed. Praise God.

From the scripture above, the apostle Paul makes something clear, and which is the fact that as believers, we are stewards of the mysteries of God. That God has kept in charge of his mysteries, and that we are to  faithfully be stewards of these mysteries. And this can be done through singing, writing, preaching, etc. Through the gifts you have been given. I want you to note something in verse 2. It is important to note that it is not just enough to know we are stewards but that we are faithful.

This is a message to you, and I today, that we are to be found faithful as stewards of the mysteries of God. We are to use to the best of our abilities the gifts God has given us. We are to see to it that the Master is glorified with our service, and that we at all times use our gifts to bless others. The Lord help us to be doers of his word in Jesus' name. Amen.

Thought for the day: You're a steward of the mysteries of God, and it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful. Are you faithful?
