No situation is permanent, and nothing lasts forever. At every point in time, and at every point in our lives, there's the need to be aware of the fact that everything that has a beginning also has an end, and if that's true, we need not bother ourselves with temporary challenges, and difficulties because certainly they will come to an end. Praise God!
Having said this, there are times as believers we get to experience certain things in our lives that seem to us to be challenges insurmountable, that we begin to think most times as well that we are at that point of our lives where nothing makes sense, and that we can never get solutions in such situations. We become so weak, and faint in heart that even nothing makes sense to us anymore.
Even then, we need to understand that all things work together for the good of those who love the Lord, and are the called according to his purpose. And that whatsoever situation we find ourselves, it's for a purpose. We shall by the grace of God see something very important in the Scriptures today, and the passage of scripture under consideration is seen below.
"For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory". (2 Corinthians 4:17).
You see, if as believers we get to understand that the situations, and sometimes difficulties we have to face or we face rather are just for a period of time, and that we have the victory in Christ Jesus our Lord, we would worry less about such situations, and rather put our trust completely in the Lord for he alone is our trust. Praise God! Look at what the Scripture calls the situations we call insurmountable, it calls it our light affliction. This implies that it is only for a moment.
It has no eternal abode in our lives, neither is it something too big for the Lord our God to handle. Those situations, those difficult circumstances are only for a moment, they won't last forever. In this, we are to rejoice, and to glory in the Lord who causes us to triumph greatly over all difficulties, and challenges. We also need to note that the afflictions are not just light, and to last for but a moment, they also work in us a far more exceeding, and eternal weight of glory. Praise God.
That all we go through as believers are nothing compared to the things we would gain for going through such patiently, here on earth, and even hereafter. The victory, and triumph that comes with trusting the Lord, and knowing for sure that those things are just for a short period of time should be that which keeps us moving, and confident. We do not walk blindly for there's a more exceeding, and eternal weight of glory if we would through patience, and faith in God overcome that which seem insurmountable before us. The Lord help us in Christ's name. Amen.
Thought for the day: More than the affliction, your focus should be on the eternal weight of glory, for the affliction is light, and only for a moment.
