Have you ever seen a a child whose mother or father sends him an errand but fails to deliver as expected of him? You would notice most probably that at the time the child's mother or father was speaking with the child, he or she wasn't listening which of course could have been the reason for his inability to deliver. Another factor could have been that the child was in a haste to carry out the task that he didn't pay enough attention to details. Praise God.
You see, impatience is very costly. It could ruin a whole lot of things. Many marriages have been ruined as a result of impatience, relationships destroyed, and irrational decisions made, why? Because the parties in question didn't take their time to thoroughly consider the situation. Hallelujah. The reason most times people fail to give attention to details so as to get the best can be linked to impatience. It is my prayer that God however would grant us the grace to be patient. Amen.
Today, and that, by the help of God, we shall be considering something very important; that which the believer needs not just to know but also to live by, and I trust that the Lord through his word would minister greatly to us. Amen. The passage of scripture under consideration today is seen below,
"And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them". (Exodus 24:12).
Here we see the instruction of the Lord to Moses. The scripture says the Lord said to Moses to come up to him into the mount, and be there, isn't it? There's something to learn from here. The Lord didn't say Moses should just come, and leave, did he? Of course not but he said to remain there, where in particular? In his presence of course. The presence of the Lord is not a place one goes to and decides to leave without allowing the Lord minister to him. This is the message to you, and I today. The question now is, why did the Lord ask Moses to come up into the mount, and be there?
The next statement gives the answer to the question, the reason for the instruction was such that the Lord would communicate his mind to him. It was such that the Lord would instruct him. Look at what he says (the Lord); and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them. Hallelujah. However, to get this, there was a need for Moses to go into his presence, not just for a while, but the Lord said to be there till he gave the instruction.
This implies that the secret to getting his instructions is to be separated to him in prayer, and fellowship, and to remain with him till he gives the instruction. He didn't tell Moses the time he would be spending, and that didn't matter. All he wanted was for him to stay till whenever his instruction came, and so he wants us to act as well; not to rush out of his presence. He wants to give us instructions for our lives, marriages, businesses, ministries, career, academics, but one thing he requires us to do is to come to him, and remain there till his instructions come. It is my prayer today that the Lord would grant to us his staying power. Amen.
Thoughts for the Day
The Lord desires you not to just come to him without getting anything, but that you come, and remain in his presence till his instructions come.
