Burning Altars by Oyedele Taiwo

Burning Altars by Oyedele Taiwo

Dragging my weary feet
Down,down from the mountain top
Atop sweat laden hands,sit!
Heaps of fiery coals like cup
Step by step, coal after coal
Drops into the Burning furnace

Oh wonder! Such beautiful colours
My fire sparkled in flavours
With gadgets as a Goldsmith's
Building an edifice too smitten
Breathtaking in, my minute experiment
Alas! My fire fell from a furnace

Fell short to a funny fireplace
Rolls, more Rolls of fat in kgs
Sins by perspective secretly aced
Moulded up in volumes measuring km²
On a mission to douse fire with ice
Empty lies the site my edifice once spiced

Sojourning with a prayer chant
Once defeated,twice warrior
A war cry of scripture tongues
Sprung forth allied by arsenal turmoil
Mimicking a match strike,fire glowed
Fanning the fire, furnace flowed

Security art, smoke detector
Weakness reveals, sins projector
Tools! More tools,flames monitor
Scriptures,prayers, routine checks
Boxed in donations, fuelling my flame
Burning with fury,upon my altar.
