Biography of Pastor Godman Akinlabi

Born on 28th December 1974, Pastor Godman Akinlabi is the Lead Pastor of The Elevation Church, Lagos, a non-denominational church founded in 2010 with a God-given mandate to ‘make greatness common’. TEC is focused on Social Service delivery and is the main driver behind several initiatives, events, interventions and community outreaches that are enablers and beneficial to the social well being of the communities that it serves.

Pastor Godman Akinlabi hails from Igbo-Ora, Oyo State, located in the South-Western part of Nigeria. He grew up in Ibadan, where he attended the Government College, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria from 1985 to 1990. In 1992, he was admitted to the Federal University of Technology Akure, Ondo State to study Mining and Mineral Engineering and he graduated with a Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.) Degree in 1997. He proceeded to obtain his master's degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos. He is also an alumnus of Manchester Business School, England, from where he earned an MBA. Again, Pastor Godman Akinlabi was part of the 2018 Class of Strategic Perspectives in Non-profit Management program of the Harvard University (SPNM18).

Pastor Godman started his pastoral ministry at the Daystar Christian Centre, where he served fir 15 years in different capacities which included ushering pastor, teacher, preacher and director of pastoral care. He also served on the faculty of Daystar Leadership Academy, where he facilitated Leadership Development courses over a period of twelve years. On 10th October 2010, the senior pastor of Daystar Christian Church, Pastor Sam Adeyemi, commissioned The Elevation Church, currently led by Pastor Godman Akinlabi.

A pastor with over 20 years of experience, he is a seasoned and highly sought-after speaker, trainer and consultant who has taught and inspired people in conferences and churches around the world. Pastor Godman is the visionary behind several initiatives, interventions and community outreaches such as the Pistis Foundation, a non-profit organisation established to be a model provider of empowerment opportunities for the economically challenged with its focus areas on education, health and shelter, Elevate 200 churches, a weekly outreach that began in 2010, which focuses on feeding, training and empowering the less privileged, as well as several large scale Soup Kitchens and free medical outreaches for the less privileged that have held all over Lagos state.

He is the convener of several events and conferences targeted at empowering different people groups in Christian ministry, business and the polity. Some of those events include the Exponential Conference for Pastors and Church Leaders; Vantage Forum, an annual business & economic outlook event; the Hangout which is a conference for singles, a mentorship program for young men called “Man Up”; Better Half Media, a ministry that is positioned to positively influence marriages and relationships; and Business Roundtable which is an initiatives that helps to empower persons in business, the workforce and in government.

He is an author with several acclaimed books such as Sexuality: Get a Grip for Singles & Couples, the 7 Commandments of Foolishness; Don’t Waste your Pain, Moving from Fear to Faith, I am Possible, and his latest release, “Burning Questions, Flaming Answers”, a book that answers some of the common questions for couples and singles about relationships. A recognized social media influencer, he holds a special social media event every Friday that is focused on sharing practical tips about building godly relationships for both singles and married couples.

Pastor Godman Akinlabi is happily married to his heartthrob, Pastor Bolarinwa Akinlabi, a teacher and minister of the gospel and they both have two beautiful daughters, Danielle and Annabel.

In July 2016, he facilitated and launched "BelieversConnect", an application developed with a view to connecting single-status Christians "with similar desires for a successful marriage." 

Based on the appeal of his sermons to a demographic population largely dominated by youths, he was featured as one of the five most influential pastors in Nigeria.
Published works

Following the rising number of Christian singles, a new app, Believers Connect has been launched to offer credible relationship. Launched in 2016

Announcing the launch at a press conference in Lagos on Friday, Lead Pastor, Elevation Church, Lekki, Lagos, Godman Akinlabi, stated that it had become necessary for an immediate intervention in helping Christian singles find a Godly spouse with true and genuine intentions towards marriage in order to keep the values of marriage as ordained by God.

According to him, “Believers Connect was created to ease the stress and sometimes pain some single Christians go through while trying to find a worthy life partner with whom they share true Christian values. There are so many hard working, matured Christian men and women out there that have become limited in their choices as a result of their daily routine, mostly influenced by their job, business or church engagements now desperate for a life partners. This is about to change with Believers Connect” he said.

Akinlabi added that the idea was born out of the need to connect Christians with similar desires for a successful marriage irrespective of how long they have been looking for a life partner.”

  

 

About The Elevation Church

The Elevation Church also known as TEC has been set up by God to develop members to be witnesses for Christ and still empower them to achieve the highest levels of distinction and greatness in life. At The Elevation Church, greatness primarily means service.

The Elevation Church actively believes in the Godhead- the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The ministry also believes that God the Father, loved us so much that He sent Jesus Christ His son, to take on flesh so that He could die and save us (the world) from sin.
    We believe that Jesus died and resurrected and is seated now at the right hand of the Father.
    We believe that we have another comforter, The Holy Spirit who is God and with whose fellowship we enjoy here on earth.
    We believe that we are joint heirs with Jesus to God’s inheritance by His word and that we will rule and reign with Him forever more.
