3 Things the Word of God Does

Reading the Bible today has come across a lot of people as an activity with so many meanings; each one varying from the other. Some people see it as a chore that must be done daily, others see it as a mission bound by time and must be completed within that time frame, certain people see it as a place of solace, and to some, there's no significant meaning at all!

God always has a reason for whatsoever He has made available for His children. This is why it is necessary to find out what purpose these Words (the Bible, prophecies, and prayer points) were inspired by their writers.

1. The Word cleanses your Tears

When life's issues roar at a believer, we do not ignore and think these issues will automatically disappear until the Word of God is spoken.

An example is the case of Hannah who was barren in her early days, we could read from her that she was depressed and debased; (1Samuel 1:6-7)  but, the moment the word of the Lord came to her through Eli, she was comforted and she ate and worshipped God! (1 Samuel 1:18-19).

As believers today, no matter how worse our situations may seem, the word of God should always be our go-to place to seek comfort. No man's shoulder is broad enough to carry your tears like the shoulders of Christ because He loves you more than any man could profess. He says in His word that "Though he (the righteous) fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand." - Psalm 37:24. This only serves to prove to us that the word of God is always open for us to be encouraged every time.

2. The word gives rest to your Heart

How beautiful will it be to live life without chaos and the fear of destruction, death, or poverty? The assurance that a believer can live with nothing missing and nothing was broken comes only from the word of God.

Hopelessness, helplessness, and faithlessness have encroached on the minds of almost everyone living on the surface of the earth because the devil is actively preaching the news of doom to them. This is one reason why you as a believer have to be filled with the word of God - Knowing the word not just by cramming information but knowing the word as the reason you can live life peacefully and with ease.

You must learn to let the word deal with the condemnations that come with perceived failure.

Proverbs 23:18 says, "For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off." The believer has a hope that his or her expectations cannot be cut short because of the word of God. This is why you can go through life without fearing what "might" happen or waste time answering negative questions of "what ifs".

Our assurance that we can find help in time of need comes because of the word that teaches us to come boldly to God's throne of grace!

3. The word strengthens you

In a world where weariness is the order of the day in every nation, tongue, and tribe, only a supernatural strength from the highest can keep the believer separate.

Isaiah 40:29-31 says, "He giveth power to the fain, and they that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint."

Waiting, hoping with the hope of a positive end, and believing in the word of God that comes as a prophecy, as a prayer point, or from the Bible serves as the source of strength and rejuvenation to the believer.

The motivational talk, "I can do it!" will only push you a bit and never far unless the power of God has landed upon you. You can never rise and do it unless God Himself breathes upon you and what you do. His words serve as a reminder and a call for us to keep remembering that we are never alone and without help!
