As believers, we ought to be careful about who we listen to and what we give attention to. This is because many try to teach things that contradict the teachings of scripture and this they do justifiably.
Haven't you heard ministers' so-called messages where the Lordship of Jesus is being denied? Have you not been to places where they tell you all sorts of things not contained in scripture? There are many out there who cause people to stumble and you must be very careful. Let's consider the passage of scripture below,
"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: [7] Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. [8] But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. [9] As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed." (Galatians 1:6-9)
From the look of things, it seemed as though Paul had preached to the people in Galatia and this was a letter to follow up on them and check how they were doing. In the passage of scripture above, it was surprising to him so to speak that some of them had deviated from the gospel he preached to them which of course was the gospel of Christ into another gospel that the scripture didn't talk about.
Although this was the case, Paul identified that this occurred because they were some people who were perverting the message he preached. This implies that they were teaching things different from the gospel of Christ and were leading others astray in the process. This is a call to be very careful not just to those who listen to others teach but also to those who teach.
In addressing the case, the apostle Paul had to tell them anyone who teaches anything aside from the gospel of Christ will be accursed (placed under a curse). The question is this, who and what are you listening to? The other question is this, are you one of those who pervert the gospel of Jesus? The Lord grants us understanding. Amen.
Daily Nugget: Not everyone who teaches in the name of Christ is truly a servant of his. You have to discern every spirit and be careful who you listen to.
Prayer: Lord, help me not to be deceived by those who pervert the gospel, and help me not to be one of those who pervert the gospel in Jesus' name. Amen.
