Biography of Pastor Lazarus Muoka

Pastor Lazarus Muoka is a Nigerian pastor, minister, author. and the General Overseer of The Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement, a church founded from its humble beginning at Ilasamaja and grown by the help of God through Pastor Lazarus Muoka.

Pastor Lazarus Muoka was born into a Catholic family in Umuhu-Okabia in Orsu LGA of Orlu zone in Imo State where he went on to finish his primary and secondary school education. In 1975, he moved into Lagos and worked for some time under a company before starting up his own business which he did until he gave his life to Christ as a full Christian.

Muoka’s influence and wealth have soared. Every Sunday, and even at special programmes that the church organises during the week, thousands of worshippers throng the centre. His congregation comprises largely the low and middle income earners, who proudly wear yellow reflective jackets on which the Lord’s Chosen name is written.

Lazarus Muoka claimed to have had many dreams from God in 1994 prompting him to pull out from the church he was serving as a pastor and set up his own church. Shortly after pulling out, he set up The Lord's Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement with the aim of "preaching the undiluted word of God". The church which started with a few pioneer members has gone on to become one of the most popular churches in Nigeria.

Pastor Lazarus Muoka is the Founder and General Overseer of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement. Before then, the Etiti-Okabi-born indigene of Imo State lived all his life in Lagos, where he worked with China Cable, Ikeja, Niger Chin and other companies. He later resigned not only from his former ministry, Watchman Catholic Charismatic Renewal Movement (WCCRM), but also from the companies to set up his own ministry. He recently spoke to journalists at a press conference meant to herald the church’s 20th anniversary.

The Lord’s Chosen was established on December 24, 2002 with a 10 billion souls mandate.

As for the congregational growth, we were with some people at Ilasamaja. That’s where we were named The Lord’s Chosen Revival Ministry. When the ministry was established, there was something that the people saw and which made them keep coming in their thousands. At one point, there was no place for them to stay, as the whole place was filled up with people. People were fighting us for making noise. But when some people could not contain the crowd they opened their gates for people to stay and worship in their compounds. At a time, somebody told us that there was a place at Ijesha where we could keep the multitude. That was how we came and saw that somebody had started pouring sand here when we came to negotiate. It was then we bought eight plots of land and started building.

We started worshiping at Ijesha in August 2003 in a place we thought was too big. But the crowd overflowed the street. Before you knew it, the congregation overflowed to the Express Road.  One day, God spoke to me about the land. We got somebody who owned a major part of the estate. When we met the person and bought the place every other person that had plots of land there to sell sold them to us. We built about 22 halls and each hall contained a plot of two lands.  We entered the place. We handled some challenges within the compound. It was usually flooded, making things difficult without proper drainage.  Today, The Lord’s Chosen Church has spread to all the states in Nigeria and beyond Africa to Austria, America, Asia, North, and South America and it is still expanding. We are in over 100 nations. We are in four continents of the world.  It is God that is solely responsible for whatever growth and expansion that had happened in the ministry. That is why I wear this apron with the inscription: “Only God can do this.” No man could have done it but God.  This is because, at the beginning, we had some challenges. When God is doing something, the devil would bring his agents to hinder it.  One of the challenges was when one person came and said that he gave money to the church to develop this place.  There was nothing like that. This is because everything we do is on record. And when it was brought before him, he was surprised.  Despite the challenges, we went everywhere preaching the gospel. Being 20 years is worth celebrating because if we look back, we would say that God has been faithful to us. He is the One who established us and announced us all over the world. Many people who saw us when we started sneered that this ministry would not last for more than three months. Many bad things were said concerning us. But what they did not know is that this is not a project of man but of God.  Since the beginning of the ministry, it has been testimonies galore. He has used this place to touch people with terrible lifestyles, and they have become born again. I mean hardened armed robbers, prostitutes, and herbalists. But, for this church, I don’t know what would have happened to our nation, Nigeria, and the entire world if those criminal elements were not converted. God also used the church to deal with some sicknesses and diseases. We are celebrating because we can see what the Lord has done.  It is good for people to know that we did not fall from the moon but started somewhere.

Before the ministry manifested physically, I had revelations about what lay ahead. In one of the revelations, there were a lot of fights with many people in the dream. I didn’t know who they were. Even a lion came and attacked me. I killed the lion.  When these things came, I shared them with the Pastor whose ministry I was under then. The Lord gave me Isaiah chapter 60. Before this verse came, a voice was telling me what God would do with me. I rejected it and said that it was not me. In one of Reinhard Bonnke’s crusades, he gave me the microphone to pray for the people. It was then he said that he saw me being in charge of one of the biggest ministries in Africa.

BASIC TENETS OF THE CHURCH

The above vision in its entirety has been brought to bear all the scriptural doctrines of the Bible that would provide guidance and lead genuine believers into the kingdom of God at the end of this life. This vision reveals the hidden treasures of the Bible, even more elaborately.  With its experiences of power as emphasized in the Bible in

1 Corinthians 4:20, “FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD IS NOT IN WORD, BUT IN POWER.”
Hence, inexplicable but true and startling miracles are witnessed everyday in our fellowship. Both curable and incurable diseases such as, HIV, Cancer, Diabetes, etc. have been cured and testimonies abound from the mouths of those who have been liberated from demonic bondages.
However, it is imperative to note that, these visions do not lay emphasis on miracles and healings alone because miracles and healings are children’s bread from their Father, the Almighty God, who is in heaven. Rather, emphasis are laid on grass-root evangelism that would bring revival all over the world, turning those who are dead in sin into the righteousness of Christ. Also, reviving those who have lost the thirst for God and bringing them back to the knowledge of truth. Some of the doctrines of the church are baptism (by immersion), salvation, sanctification and Holy Ghost baptism. We believe in God-the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost relationship as one. Also, we believe in all the attributes of God such as love, charity, long-suffering, perseverance, mercy, forgiveness etc.
The understanding and emulation of these attributes of God would assist us in fashioning a better Christian conduct which will provoke those outside the Christendom to acknowledge the awesomeness of his existence and his great power to save sinners from all vices of sin.

The three (3) fold vision upon which the calling of Pastor Lazarus Muoka is anchored are:-

GRASS ROOT REVIVAL ALL OVER THE WORLD. (MARK 16 VS 15-17)

Mark 16:15 says, “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” This first vision is in fulfillment of the Lord’s commandment to the apostles to go into the world and preach the gospel. This commission is the foundational element that would establish the Lordship and Kingship of Jesus Christ upon all mankind. And the church, as a result-embarked on an unlimited outreach programme that will bring revival all over the world. Within few months of inception of the church (and in confirmation of the evidence of the calling by God,) the continent of Africa and beyond has perceived the wave of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival church

REVIVAL OF THE APOSTOLIC CHRISTIAN EXPERIENCES AMONG THE BODY OF CHRIST. (1 PETER 2 VS 9 - 0)

Acts 2:17 says, “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:” In the Bible days, the apostles enjoyed wonderful experiences of grace such as: faith, love, holiness, humility, perseverance, hope, zeal, commitment and gifts of the Holy Spirit. These are the bedrock of our Christian faith. And through these experiences, God demonstrated inexplicable signs and wonders, using the apostles as instrument to touch the lives of many. Thus, healings and deliverances were wrought by God through the apostles. In Matthew 10:7-8, Jesus says, “And as ye go, preach, saying, the kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give”. This is a mandate that has been neglected. However, these experiences that were ordained to be a continuous exercise, have become very cold among the body of Christ in our generation. Hence, God has by His grace and mercy, raised the Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival church as an instrument in His hand to revive and restore these experiences among the body of Christ all over the world. The manifestations of these experiences are the startling and inexplicable testimonies of salvation, sanctification, breakthroughs, deliverances and healings of incurable diseases such as HIV, cancer, diabetes etc. Few of these testimonies are what we have highlighted in this website for your spiritual upliftment.

REVIVAL OF HEAVENLY CONSCIOUSNESS IN THE BODY OF CHRIST (HEAVEN AT LAST. ( MATTHEW 6 VS 33 ))

This is the last hope of every believer and for this purpose Jesus Christ came to restore the lost kingdom of God by Adam, back to man. The aspiration of every believer is that he/she will be in heaven at last. It is a primary truth that no one lives in this planet forever. The Lord has given us a three-fold vision

Vision No. 1:

Grassroots Revival all over the world: With everywhere in the whole world as our mission field, we have the mission of taking the gospel message to everyone through every medium available, with our adoption of the Charismatic approach like the morning cry, bus evangelism, market evangelism, the use of the apron etc.
Mark 16:15: And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Luke 19:10: For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

Vision No. 2:
Revival of the Apostolic Christian experiences among the body of Christ, The Lord has commissioned us to bring back and stir a revival and restoration of the Christian experience as: genuine salvation, sanctification, baptism of the Holy Ghost, all the fruit of the Holy Spirit and accompanying gifts of the spirit among the body of Christ - A greater part of which hitherto seemed to have slept or lost their focus.
1st Pet 2:9: But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;

Vision No. 3:
Revival of Heaven consciousness among the body of Christ. With the language of communicating righteousness and holiness in the church gone so weak, such that sin is being taken for granted; with many going to church just to get the things of this world being grossly unmindful of godliness and heaven. God has given us, as our third vision, a re-awakening of the indispensable consciousness of heaven among the body of Christ and thus, ultimate - heaven at last.

Lazarus Muoka was raised a Catholic and attended primary and secondary school in Umuhu-Okabia, Orsu LGA, Orlu Zone, Imo State, where he was born. He relocated to Lagos in 1975 and worked for a firm for a while before beginning his own enterprise, which he continued to run until he fully committed his life to Christ.

Lazarus Muoka claimed to have had many dreams from God in 1994 prompting him to pull out from the church he was serving as a pastor and set up his own church. Shortly after pulling out, he set up The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Movement with the aim of “preaching the undiluted word of God”. The church which started with a few pioneer members has gone on to become one of the most popular churches in Nigeria.
