What News Did I Hear by Similoluwa Olatoye

I have heard something great.
I have experienced the extraordinary.
My heart is bursting with joy.

My eyes have never seen this.
My ears have never heard this.
Neither has my heart imagined this great news.

I want to stay calm, but I can't.
All I want to do is go to the mountaintop and shout at the top of my lungs.
My mouth doesn't want to stay silent.

What news did I hear?
What news made me lose my indifference and pessimism?
What discovery am I so bold and boastful about?
Come close and pay attention; you don't want to miss a word.

Remember how I was once hopeless about life?
Going around and waiting for life to do as it wished with me.
Well, I found someone who has gave me hope.

Remember when all I felt after a great accomplishment was imposter syndrome?
Well, knowing Him has made me do away with that.
No longer am I bound to the feeling of emptiness.
I am filled with the life and light He has offered me.

What did He do for me to get all this?
I will gladly tell you.
I won't miss this opportunity.
I have vowed never to miss any opportunity.

He took my all to the cross—sins, hurts, fears, and everything you can ever imagine.
He endured the shame, pain, and suffering it brought on Him.
He shed His blood and died for me, then He gave me a new life.
And that is what I am living out right now.

You are wondering if it is was for me alone,
No, He did it for you also.
He is offering you this same freedom and new life.

Who is 'He'?
He is Jesus!
And I can't stay quiet about Him.
He didn't stay quiet while saving me.
He went all out for me.
And I am forever going to go all out for Him too.
