How to Pray Through as a Believer

Praying Through

"Hannah was greatly distressed, and she prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish. She made a vow, saying, "O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction (suffering) of Your maidservant and remember, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a son, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life; a razor shall never touch his head." Now it happened as she continued praying before the Lord, that Eli was watching her mouth. Hannah was speaking in her heart (mind); only her lips were moving, and her voice was not heard, so Eli thought she was drunk. Eli said to her, "How long will you make yourself drunk? Get rid of your wine." But Hannah answered, "No, my Lord, I am a woman with a despairing spirit. I have not been drinking wine or any intoxicating drink, but I have poured out my soul before the Lord. Do not regard your maidservant as a wicked and worthless woman, for I have spoken until now out of my great concern and [bitter] provocation." Then Eli answered and said, "Go in peace; and may the God of Israel grant your petition that you have asked of Him." Hannah said, "Let your maidservant find grace and favor in your sight." So the woman went on her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad."

Prayer is a non-transferable responsibility
Praying through involves praying into results. Prayer is a place where our relationship or intimacy with God is renewed, refreshed and revived. It is impossible to have a bouyant and working spiritual life without prayer. This means that when a man stops to pray, his spiritual life begins to go down. Your relationship with God is at the mercy of your prayer life.

Prayer is the place where the will, purpose and plan of God that is known, is established and enforced. The fact that God has promised several things in scripture does not mean that it will happen on a platter of gold.

How do we pray through?
* Have a right standing with God - James 5:16. Anything that affects your relationship with God affects your prayer life. Will God answer an unfaithful man, yes … but a more effective prayer will only come from a right heart.
* Have the knowledge of the will of God. The will of God that is not known cannot be prayed. Hannah knew that God was in need of a male prophet and she channeled her prayer in that direction. God is looking for men to partner with and that can only be when you know His will… God give me wealth so I can finance your kingdom. Praying the will of God is a prayer waiting to be answered.
* Praying with strong faith in God - Hebrews 11:6, James 1:6. Your faith in God is more important that the length of your prayers. God is not moved by the length of your prayers but by your faith in his name. See the woman with the issue of blood.

Lord help me to pray the right way. Help me to learn the art of praying through.
