The secret to longevity is honour. Long life responds to honour. Elders may not have the ability to do many things but they have access to wisdom that can carry you to many places. Elders interprete situations that your experience cannot fathom
I'd Elijah were your father, you'd likely run away. Imagine! How can someone serve you for 21 years and you're still asking him what he wants? Elisha had to honour Elijah until he got what he needed. Elijah didn't want to drop anything for him but heaven dropped the mantle upon Elisha.
