Daniel Onuoha (born 10 December 1976) is a Nigerian preacher, the National President and International Vice-President of National Evangelism Christian Outreach, (NECO) Inc. NECO has branches in 12 States of Nigeria and 6 Countries across Africa.
Daniel Onuoha believes that simple faith in the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the Only answer to the many-sided problems of humanity. He is passionate about the growth of God's Kingdom through personal evangelism, church planting and training of church workers.
EARLY LIFE
Daniel Onuoha was born third of nine siblings, in Okoffia, Ezza-South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Nigeria. He was raised in a devout Roman-Catholic family. His father, Patrick, was a revered elder and His mother - Eucharia, a leader/chair-person of the Catholic Women Organization of her local assembly. Thus, he grew under strong Christian values and tutelage.
EDUCATION
Daniel Onuoha had his junior and senior high school education in Community Secondary School Izzikworo, Ebonyi State Nigeria. He went on to study Geology at the University Of Port Harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria.
MINISTRY
Despite being a bright student, Daniel's parents could not afford to send him to the higher institution. For this reason, he moved to Aba in Abia State Nigeria, where he became a rice trader. It was during this time, in August of 1996, that he encountered Jesus - under the influence of a co-trader (Romanus Okorie) in Ariaria market, Aba. Years prior, Daniel discovered he had a special passion in his heart for the things of God. He usually spent his days as a child praying the rosary and being involved in the activities of his local church.
So, giving his life to Christ was the re-dedication to God he required to reignite that passion and set him on the path to his destiny. Shortly after, Daniel obtained an admission to study Geology in the University Of Port Harcourt, Rivers State Nigeria. Around this time, in November of 1998, God spoke to him in a vision, saying: "For this reason have I raised you: that my people who are crying will stop crying."
And this was how he received his call into the ministry.
Being a young Christian and a student as well, he consolidated his Christian faith and journey by joining the Campus Fellowship arm of Church Of God Mission Int'l - called Christian Fellowship International (CFI). Here, he engaged in active service and missions, and was ordained a pastor in the year 2000. He continued on to serve as a campus pastor until his graduation in 2002. Just like every graduate, Daniel was excited to plunge into the corporate world as a trained geologist, and maybe establish a career in the oil industry. However, God stopped him right in his tracks by saying: "You were born to preach the gospel only."
This was a difficult resolution for a young, fresh graduate who neither had a sponsor, a job, or a family to fall back to financially. This notwithstanding, Daniel let his passion trump his fear and proceeded to found THE FISHER'S NET, an evangelical ministry that specialized in rural and urban personal evangelism. Essentially, Daniel found joy in traveling from place to place across the South-East and South-South of Nigeria, knocking on doors and sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ boldly. He also organized many crusades, winning countless souls.
In 2001, God told Daniel clearly: "Prove your ministry." When Daniel asked how, God responded by telling him plainly to "Enter the road". Daniel took this instruction literally and hopped on every bus he could find, diligently combing through the country -North, South, East and West- preaching the gospel on the roads. He would take a bus from point A, preach throughout the trip and on getting to point B, turn around and take the returning bus, only to continue evangelising. God confirmed His Words with great signs and wonders accompanying.
2004 proved to be a tough year for the young preacher. A new husband and father as well, he was laden with an even heavier burden of figuring out the instructions he was receiving from God. One of such mandates was: "Get ready to take the gospel to Africa and the world; Write the name of Jesus boldly on the African plate." This bidding was even more difficult because Daniel had only barely managed to scrape by on the first task. Besides, he had never been out of Nigeria at the time and again, had no sponsors. So, it seemed so far-fetched that he would ever fulfil this vision. What he didn't know yet though, was that God was working things out behind the scenes.
Daniel came in contact with a woman (One Mrs. Uwaleke - an Equatorial Guinean, Nigerian by marriage) during his missions, with whom he shared the vision of spreading the gospel across Africa, specifically starting with Equatorial Guinea. She was excited about the idea because she knew a man who was just as passionate about the Gospel and was looking for someone to send off on international missions. This was how Daniel got connected to Ven. Dr. B.U. Okafor, founder (and now International President) of NECO. Both men bonded on their shared passion for souls and soon, Daniel was sent on a missionary journey to Equatorial Guinea. When he returned, he was enlisted as a NECO staff, and made Enugu State co-ordinator, (being that he now based in South-East Nigeria).
Fast forward to 2018.
Daniel Onuoha was met with an unprecedented promotion. Dr. B.U. Okafor conferred on him the office of National President and International Vice-President of NECO, after an express instruction from God and several confirmations. Prior to this, Daniel had become a close follower of Dr. Okafor, accompanying him on several international mission trips.
The journey from this point on can only be described as one trailed by Great Grace.
In 2011, the first NECO-owned Headquarters building was erected in Enugu, ensuite with a retreat center and parsonage. As of 2024, NECO National, under the leadership of Daniel Onuoha is developing the City Of David, a 125 acre property, with the vision of building a global training center for evangelists, church leaders and workers. Currently, active mission work is going on in Liberia and the Central Africa Republic.
