Popular Christian content creators and ministers, The Winlos have opened up about one of the darkest seasons of their lives, revealing how they lost a child while faithfully serving God in ministry.
Speaking during a recent message, Pastor Anwinli Ojeikere, popularly known as Mama Winlos, recounted the heartbreaking experience, stressing that the tragedy did not occur because she had abandoned her faith or drifted away from God’s purpose. Rather, she was actively engaged in ministry when the loss happened.
“I lost my child a few years ago. I was doing the Lord’s work… It wasn’t because I had stopped serving God,” she said, challenging the notion that suffering is always a consequence of a lack of faith or disobedience.
According to her, the painful experience tested her faith deeply. Yet, instead of walking away from God, she chose to remain steadfast, trusting Him even when she could not understand the reason for her loss.
Anwuli explained that many believers are tempted to abandon their God-given assignments after experiencing tragedy, disappointment or unanswered prayers. However, she encouraged Christians to remain faithful, believing that God is able to bring purpose out of pain.
Reflecting on the difficult season, she noted that quitting ministry would have deprived others of the hope and encouragement they now receive through the Winlos’ evangelistic drama ministry.
Her testimony has resonated with many Christians, serving as a reminder that faith does not exempt believers from life’s trials. Rather, God often sustains His children through suffering and uses their testimonies to strengthen others.
The Winlos, widely known for their gospel drama skits and biblical teachings shared across social media, have impacted millions of people by presenting practical Christian truths through storytelling and humour. Their ministry continues to encourage believers to remain committed to Christ despite life’s challenges.
From a Biblical Perspective, Scripture reminds believers that trials are not necessarily signs of God’s absence. In James 1:2–4, Christians are encouraged to “consider it pure joy” whenever they face trials because the testing of faith produces perseverance.
Likewise, Romans 8:28 assures believers that “in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”
The Winlos’ testimony echoes this biblical truth: while suffering is painful and often difficult to understand, God’s presence remains constant, and He is able to bring hope, healing and eternal purpose even through seasons of profound grief.
