LESSONS FROM PROVERBS
The month of August was indeed an exciting one as we went through the study, Scriptural Instruction and we saw from scripture many things we were instructed of God's word to do, isn't it? We also emphasized the fact that it is not just enough to say that we have been instructed but to obey whatever instruction has been given to us, isn't it? It is however my belief that you were blessed even as I was and that you are living in complete obedience to those instructions.
This month promises to be very exciting as well as we shall be considering the part two series of lessons from Proverbs. In the month of June, we were able to go through the part one series for lessons from Proverbs and I know for sure that God really blessed our hearts and he will do much more even with this month's series. Praise God.
Today, we shall be considering the first lesson, and I urge everyone reading this to pay close attention to the things that will be taught not just in today's lesson but all through the lessons in this month as the Lord will be opening our hearts to see things from scripture and to be blessed of them as well. Glory to God. Let's see the passage of scripture below,
"Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivereth from death" (Proverbs 10:2).
What justifies a man is not the abundance of the properties that he has, is it? Suppose a man is brought before a judge for an offence he knows nothing about, no amount of money can justify him or prove his innocence except someone testifies about his good deeds and reasonable evidences are brought before the judge indicating that the man is innocent of a truth, isn't it?
Now, this is even when the man got those properties in a very sincere way, not dubious in nature. Even that cannot save him not to talk about the fact that he got his wealth through inappropriate means. That would even implicate him more, don't you think? Why this? It means that no amount of treasure can save a man in times of trouble nor deliver from death not to even think that he got them by wicked means.
Wickedness profits no one and treasures gotten by it, profit nothing. This is just the truth, it cannot deliver a man in times of trouble but righteousness does. It is not just about being morally upright but taking your root in Christ Jesus and living as he lived, doing everything right before him and before men. What will deliver you in times of trouble and make you blameless before God is not that which you possess, not to even say it was gotten by wicked means but how right you have lived not just before men but before God. The Lord help us to understand this of a truth in Christ's name. Amen.
Thought for the day:
Wickedness profits nothing, treasures of wickedness equally profits nothing; living right not just before men but before God is what delivers.
