We belong to a kingdom that is different from the earthly kingdom. The scripture makes a sharp contrast between the kingdom we belong to, and the kingdom that exist in the world. The one we now belong to is called the kingdom of light, and the one that we once were citizens of or that still works in the children of disobedience is called the kingdom of darkness. And you would agree with me that in any kingdom, the number one person is the king. He is in charge of the kingdom and every other person or thing as it were submit to him, right?
Do you know that God is King? Do you see God as King? Do you know God as King? Your knowledge of God as king will usher you into a newer experience of him. The kingdom we now belong to as a result of the grace of salvation that was brought to us (Titus 2:11) is ruled by no one else but God. We have seen God as many things in scripture. We have seen him as love, as Father, as light, as peace, as one who loves righteousness, etc. However, today we want to see God as king.
God is king is this kingdom, and this we must know if we must experience God in ways like never before. You see, our experiences of God are tied to our knowledge. It is that which you know about God that will work for you? What do you know about God? Have you come to know God as King especially over your life? Let's look at the passages of scripture below,
"Thine, O Lord , is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine ; thine is the kingdom, O Lord , and thou art exalted as head above all. [12] Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all" (1 Chronicles 29:11-12). "The Lord sitteth upon the flood; yea, the Lord sitteth King for ever" (Psalm 29:10).
The first passage of scripture affirms the kingship of God. God is the the greatest of all kings even in power, and glory, victory, and majesty. He rules over everything that exist in heaven and in earth. He reigns over all. He is the king of kings. The second scripture calls him King, and that he is King forever which means that there's no end to his kingdom. Praise God. God is King, and he rules with absolute authority. The Lord is king over all, and not just that, he is your King.
Let's state some things about kings, a king's command cannot be disobeyed. Once a king gives an instruction, it must be carried out with promptness and alacrity. Knowing that God is King in this kingdom, and over your life, when he says to do a thing, you should do with promptness. Never should you disobey the word of the King (God) or consider his instructions irrelevant. Second of all, the word of a King is powerful. Once a king makes a decree, whether the people like it or not, they obey, and the scripture affirms that where the word of a king is, there is power. The king's word is powerful. Knowing that God is King and rules with absolute authority, you're to glory in this that his word cannot be contended with.
That if he says a thing to you, no one will be able to fight it. And that the King's word over your life cannot be tampered with, why? Because he is your king. Finally, those who are of the household of the king (sons and daughters) have the backing and authority of the king. The scripture says we have been made priests and kings, and just like God our Father who is King over all reigns with absolute authority, we are also to reign as priests and kings on the earth since we are of his royal lineage. We are to by our lives, actions, words dominate the earth and cause the kingdom of God to find full expression in earth as it has in heaven. May this knowledge of God as King give us a newer and deeper experience of God. Amen.
Thought for the day
God is King over all, he rules with absolute authority and power. His word cannot be contended with. God's kingship is forever. You serve a King whose kingdom has no end.
