Many rely on their strength to do that which is expected of them. This is because they think that they can get things done all by themselves. While this may be possible for some persons, there's the need to understand that there's a limitation to that which the human strength can achieve. Why do you think people still claim to be weak and tired although with so much strength as they claim?
It is because there's a limitation to that which the human strength can do, and achieve, and if stretched beyond its limit, there would be fatigue and weakness. It is therefore important that people understand that if they must get things done with ease, they have to leverage on an energy level that is way greater than theirs knowing fully well that by their strength alone, they can do nothing. Praise God!
In the kingdom of God, the principles are different. In fact, things that are considered appropriate by those outside this kingdom are considered inappropriate by God, and not accepted in his kingdom. Today, by the grace of God, we shall consider something very important, how that as believers, we are not to rely on our strength. I trust the Lord to help us. The passage of scripture under consideration is seen below,
"He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail". (1 Samuel 2:9).
You see, if a young boy is threatened by someone older and stronger than him, you would agree with me that it would be a foolish thing for that boy to by himself fight with the one who threatens him, why? Because he is not strong enough to fight for himself. However, if he has a brother as old as the one who threatens him, and equally as strong as him, there would be no need to panic, why? Because he would leverage on the strength of his brother and that will surely secure the victory he seeks. Praise God!
Likewise believers, it will be very much unwise for us to think that we can by ourselves fight our battles. Was it not in the scripture, our Lord Jesus made it clear to us that without him we can do nothing? Of course, and that remains an eternal truth that we just must bear in mind at all times. That by our strength, we can do nothing. If you consider the scripture above, you would discover that it is the Lord who keeps the feet of his saints, and makes the wicked silent in darkness?
What does that tell us? That we have no power of our own neither are we sufficient in ourselves, but since we are the Lord's, we are to leverage on his strength, which of course is our victory so that at all times, when faced with overwhelming situations, we would overcome because he is our strength. Do not rely on your strength for by strength shall no man prevail. May these words dwell richly in our hearts in Christ's name. Amen.
Thought for the day:
Do you rely on your strength? Do not! Because no one in God's kingdom prevails by his strength.
