Burning Altars (Poetry) by Ande Dooshima

"The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest is to add firewood and arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat of the fellowship offerings on it." - Leviticus 6:12 (NIV)

Burning Altars (Poetry) by Ande Dooshima

Staring at the venue;
It is a place, a holy place.
It could be that holy ground
Where Moses stood upon.

It could be that holy ground
Where the Blood was shed.
All I could comprehend was
The scent of the sacrifice.

The burning sacrifice is an intense offering.
What calls my attention is that;
This sacrifice is alive*.
This sacrifice is breathing

This sacrifice is willing
This sacrifice is offered wholly
This sacrifice was myself
Laid upon an immense great fire!

I didn't flee from this fire.
I wanted more
I watched as I burned gracefully
The fire was intense!

The most interesting scenario
Is how the firewood burns endlessly.
I come closer
To take a closer look.

Then, just then,
I see Jesus
The eternal firewood
The all-sufficient wood
He is Enough for this fire to burn!

In the end, I choose this fire!

*"THEREFORE, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual [reasonable] act of worship." - Romans 12:1.
