Burning Altars by Kpakete Rowland

Burning Altars by Kpakete Rowland

How often do you fire up your altars? The scriptures says that the fire must be burning upon the altar,  it should never go out. The writer went to dish out instructions: Everyday, the priest must add fire to the altar in order to burn the fat of the offerings that have been given by the brethren.

Relating this to our dispensation,  you need to know that every believer has the sole responsibility of firing up his/her altar. This responsibility is a personal one in the sense that no man will do it for you. Other believers or your pastors can only stretch out helping hands by teaching you the word,  explaining the scriptures to you and maybe praying with you.  Beyond all this,  you need to realize that keeping my altar burning is my responsibility. Every other person is also busy about adding value to their lives through one way or the other. Hence,  it is very necessary not to depend totally on any man.

Fast forward to the new testament days,  we also have guidelines based on how we can keep our altar fire burning.  It is stated expressly in the 12th chapter of the book of Romans what the responsibilities of a believer are.  Also,  Ephesians 6:18 also gives us instructions that we should pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 instructs that we pray without stopping. Many other verses in the scriptures points us to the truth that our altars need to be burning always.

On a final note,  as much as it is important to pray to keep out altar burning,  the Word of God should and must be the centre  of our prayers. According to Apostle James, it is possible to pray without  receiving because one might have prayed amiss and praying amiss means praying outside the context of the Word and Will of God. The apostles  in the  first church were men that kept their altars burning and they went ahead to state  the secrets in Acts 6:4. They said they would give themselves constantly to prayer and ministry of the Word. Here is the balance. It is good to pray but it is necessary to pray by the Word and Will of God.

In all,  KEEP YOUR ALTAR BURNING.
