Minister Esther Ebelechukwu Benyeogo was born on the 15th of September, 1997. She is a Nigerian gospel singer, songwriter, and recording artist from Ika North Local Government Area, Delta State, Nigeria. She won Season 7 of the God's Children Great Talent (GCGT) in 2017 and Season 3 of The Voice Nigeria in 2021, and has since built a recording career, including a collaboration with TY Bello and Ko'rale on the worship track "Hosanna We Hail You."
Esther Ebelechukwu Benyeogo was born as the last of six children to Late Dr. and Mrs. Kennedy Benyeogo. She is an indigene of Ika North Local Government Area, Delta State, and grew up in Asaba, Delta State. Her father was a medical doctor who passed away in 2010, while her mother is a retired school principal.
Esther discovered her passion for singing at age 13, encouraged by her elder siblings, who are also singers. Her style has been shaped by influences including Tasha Cobbs, Sinach, Yolanda Adams, Kierra Sheard, Kim Burrell, and Nathaniel Bassey. She went on to study English and Literature at the University of Benin, Edo State.
Rise Through Talent Competitions
Esther's competitive singing career began at age 15, when she placed first runner-up in the Next Big Teen talent competition organized by Christ Embassy's teens church in 2012.
In 2017, at age 19, she won **God's Children's Great Talent (GCGT) Season 7**, beating nine other finalists at the grand finale held at the Eko Convention Centre on June 24, 2017. The win came with a ₦250 million management contract, ₦10 million cash, and a brand-new Kia Rio — making it one of the largest prizes in Nigerian gospel talent show history at the time.
In July 2021, after an 18-week competition, Esther was crowned winner of The Voice Nigeria Season 3, beating five other finalists including Naomi Mac, Dapo, Kitah, Kpee, and Eazzie. Her win came with ₦10 million in cash, an SUV, and a recording contract with Universal Music Group. Fellow gospel artists Minister Frank Edwards, Minister Moses Bliss, and Joe Praize publicly congratulated her on the win.
Music Career
Esther released her debut EP, *Carry Me*, in 2020, featuring five songs within the contemporary gospel genre. In 2018, she was featured on TY Bello's spontaneous worship series *We Worship You*. She has since gone on to collaborate with TY Bello and Ko'rale on the worship single "Hosanna We Hail You," from TY Bello's *Heaven* project.
