Light Divine by Ogun Gloria Adunoluwa

I have searched for a long time, seeking the path of my true identity. In the darkness, I heard the snicker of despair and doubt. Down the deepest pit, I have wandered, helplessly believing the Devil’s lies packaged as truth.

Once upon a time, I knew what His presence and protection felt like, even looked like. But then I wondered, oblivious to the ray of light, as I tried to claw my way out of the darkness. If only I could grasp the path of purpose and shake off this cloak made of chains called ‘Norm’.  My identity was shaped by trends and the next ‘big thing’ but that seemingly spotlight was not the path, it was a circus devoid of fulfillment.

I could not get a hold of what I should live for because my thoughts had been shaped by lies paraded as truth. But deep down in my subconscious mind, I knew there was hidden treasure I was yet to explore, a truth that could set me free from the unending cycle of despair.  

Then one glorious day, I heard these words: "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (2 Peter 1:4). It came like a whisper, but too audible to be ignored. With this whisper came the light I never believed existed, this light became an assurance that remodeled my thoughts and helped me recognize my true identity.

The Truth I was searching for had found me, confirming that indeed:
I have been sought by His love,
I have been bought by His blood and
I have been redeemed by His mercy
I am a partaker of His grace.

Therefore, I can not be defined by the happenings around me, no more will I believe any other word except the fact that, just as Jesus is in the Father, I am in Him and He is in me (John 14:20). Thereby making me a bonafide partaker of His grace.
