A Letter to My Brethren in Adullam

Dear God's Battle axe,

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you the mind of God on the things that are commonly found amongst you, that displeases God. It was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

For we dare not make ourselves of the number or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

God is not building you up to compete with others.

God is not raising you to outdo others. I believe one of the biggest mistakes we make is comparing ourselves with other people and our gifts with their gifts.

That thing that makes you want to outdo someone else is sponsored by self, not the spirit. God is not calling you to compete with others but to love and help others.

We should use our gifts and talents to enhance other people's gifts. Don't allow yourself to fall prey to the spirit of jealousy that is so prevalent in society.

I have learned that when we are jealous of someone else, that jealousy prevents us from learning and fully enjoying the gift and grace placed in others. God places gifts in men for our enjoyment and He places gifts in us for the enjoyment of others.

A man must be content to receive the gifts which are given to him from heaven, for there is no other source.

Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
