One Year on: Putting Christ above Clicks

I’m writing this article with two thoughts in mind. The first is that by July 7th, 2022 which is the day this post will go live on our website, we should be celebrating 1 Million website page views. The second thought is that whether or not we hit that landmark, we’d continue working for God. You can check our statistics and reports page here to catch a glimpse of what I’m talking about.

When we formally started writing Christian articles, I was very concerned about our readers in these three questions.

1. Who would read these articles?
2. Why would they read them?
3. How will they find our articles?

On July 7th 2021, we celebrated our first 100,000 views. One year after, we are almost hitting 1 million views because we put Christ above Clicks. As I write this on July 7th, 2022, we have 906800 visits so you can guess that we did not reach the target. However, one year down the line, we have not gotten all the answers but we are surely moving at a pace faster than when we started.

Today, there are many Blogs and social networks across the internet. Every day, on the screen in front of me, new and exciting voices addressed life's most important questions for large and growing audiences.

Our project exploded. We have curated hundreds of blogs and social media channels. They served as a remarkable sort of research garden. We could see the kinds of posts and people that prevailed in the contest for online attention,

The exceptions to the rule were beautiful: deep thinkers who earned an audience over time through their faithfulness and biblical insight. Yet the rule was nonetheless clear: When something transpired in the news, responses that were instantaneous, hyperbolic, and filled with contempt for some disfavored group attracted millions of views. Responses that took the time to reflect and respond in a measured, nuanced, humble manner were lost in the digital cacophony. The incentive structures of digital content rewarded provocateurs, scorn merchants, and sudden celebrities whose charisma translated well into new media.

Some things have changed since that time. Human nature is not one of them. Countless millions of readers have gravitated toward media properties and personalities that are all too happy to affirm that the angels are all on their side and the devils on the other.

I am a passionate believer in our efforts at The New Man Movement and I'm always grateful for the efforts put in by our team of digital evangelists, content creators and ministers. One year on, we are pursuing the example of Christ and changing media narratives with a clear voice, speaking with conviction and correcting in love. Daily, we state the true position of Christ and His relevance to the world we live in. This is more important than ever.

Our subscribers help us to be this countercultural force, but subscriptions alone are not enough. It's the growing number of donors who have funded the new and surprising directions you have seen from CT of late.

As we move in in this new report year, we hope and pray that you consider joining us as we strive anew to be a beautifully orthodox voice for the people of God.
