Blessed be the name of the Lord who in his mercy has kept us up till this time. Truly, it is not of him who wills nor of him who runs but of God who shows mercy. May his name alone be praised. Amen. As we approach the end of the year, we need to be sensitive to the instructions of God to us through his word so that we may know at all times how to live, and what to do.
Today by the grace of God, we shall be considering something very important from scripture. It is possible for people, even believers to think that they are who they are or that they do what they do all by themselves. It is possible as well to think that we are who we are by the power or effort of some other people. Is this true? Who should we give the glory to? Do we truly do things ourselves? Let's see the passage of scripture below,
"But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain, but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me". ( 1 Corinthians 15:10)
This verse of scripture sends an important message to all believers. The very fact is that we are nothing by our strength and we can do nothing by ourselves except by the grace of God. It is expedient therefore to know as believers that the grace of God is the reason we are who we are. Hallelujah!
Look at what the apostle Paul says in the verse of scripture above, "But by the grace of God I am what I am". He was a man who never saw himself as one who was able to do anything by himself. Perhaps he knew that he would have not been who he was if it wasn't for the grace of God. He needed not to take the glory for himself or thought by his work he was.
Paul wasn't a lazy man because the same verse says that he labored more abundantly than they all and although he could have said that was the reason he was who he was, he still admitted that it was not him but the grace of God that was at work in him. Praise God. What a lesson to learn from this man. Do you see all that you do, all that you have, and all you have become as things done not by you but by the grace of God? Will you like Paul say that you are who you are by the grace of God? The Lord causes his word to dwell richly in your hearts. Amen.
Daily Nugget: You are who you are not by your effort or by the efforts of other people but by the grace of God at work in you. Never take the glory for yourself.
