The Fight is His: Gospel Today Devotional - 3rd November, 2022

Let's say, for example, a very weak person was caught up in a fight with someone who was way stronger, and bigger than him, and he was to do all he could to defend himself, do you think he would win? I doubt. This is because he would have nothing in terms of strength to win this battle. Wait a minute, what if he had someone who could fight for him, almost as big as this person, there would be a fair chance of winning, right? And he would no longer have to fight but hold his peace because there's someone to fight for him.

The Fight is His: Gospel Today Devotional - 3rd November, 2022

The children of Israel were in bondage for quite a while. They were subjected to intense hardship, and slavery in the land of Egypt not until the Lord decided to visit them through his servant, Moses. But this didn't come easy as Pharaoh over and over again refused to let the people go but at last, he did.

Today, we shall be considering together a statement Moses made to the children of Israel after they had left Egypt. A statement that was meant to show them that of a truth, it was God who had granted them the deliverance they had. A statement of encouragement, and faith in God in a very trying situation. The statement is seen in the passage of scripture below,

"The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace". ( Exodus 14:14).

After they had left Egypt, it was recorded that the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, perhaps he thought, why did I allow these people to go? Who would serve us now? So, he brought together his men and decided to pursue them.

When the children of Israel looked back and saw the Egyptians, they were very much afraid and began to panic. It was there, and then, Moses assured them that the Egyptians they saw at the moment, they will see them again no more forever. Then this statement followed, he shall fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.

What an encouraging word! Meaning, there was no need for fear, and worry, and that there was no way Pharaoh and his armies would have victory over them because the fight was the Lord's, and although they were weak, God alone was strong enough to deal with Pharaoh and his armies.

Isn't this applicable to us as believers today? Yes, of course. The word of the Lord as it came to the children of Israel many years ago is coming to you, and I today, that we need not be afraid, and although we may be weak compared to the challenges we're faced with, we have one who would fight for us, and we would just have to do nothing to come out Victorious. The fight is his. May that which you have heard today comfort, and exhort your hearts. Amen.

Daily Nugget: There's no need to panic, or be worried. The fight is the Lord's. He shall fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.
