Accepting the Love of Christ

It is very likely that you have heard the statement, “God loves you” but beyond hearing this statement, have you ever considered how deep this love could be? Probably not. Right? Well, in today’s article, let’s take a practical look at the depth of this love. 

To begin, can you tell the depth of an ocean by just staring at it? Definitely not! To tell the depth of an ocean, you need to jump into that body of water and continuously dive far down (if you're well equipped to).

This is the same with the great love which Christ has to offer you. You can't tell or understand its depth if you're far away from it. No matter what you've done, running away from this love isn't the right approach.

Many times, it's easy to cry and wallow in self guilt than pray to God - our father. Sometimes it's easier to dwell in sadness than lay your burden's on the shoulders of Jesus. It's easier, but the best way would be to let go of everything weighing you down- and accept the love of Christ. It's easier to wallow in self condemnation than come to the father even though his arms are open wide to receive you.

God's love to us has no limits brethren. If you haven't been paying attention you should now.

John 15:9

[9]As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. That's Jesus. He's speaking to you. As God loves Jesus, Jesus loves us. 

What kind of love would trigger a man to die for a sinner? What kind of love will lead a man to endure the wickedness of another man just to save his soul?

Only the love of Christ can pull this off!

Remember the story of the prostitute in Luke 7:37-50? She didn't let the drowning words get to her, she still went to Jesus. She knew he loved her. She understood that he wouldn't throw her aside. She didn't let her status get to her. In the last verse, Jesus said "your faith" - that means he saw the state of her heart. 

She already accepted Jesus in her heart, she already believed in the love Jesus has for her. She knew she wouldn't leave empty and she didn't because the loving friend saw her heart and answered to her.

She accepted the love of Christ.

You know you're not alone right?

This is an understanding you need to have. Consistently tell yourself that God loves you.

You're not doing life alone.

God is with you and with Him, you have a powerful source of backing. In Psalms 91:11-13

[11]For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.

[12]They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

[13]Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.

Remember when Elisha's servant was worried and panicking because they were about to be attacked? The servant kept asking Elisha for a way of escape.

Elisha just prayed that his servant's eyes be opened and immediately, the servant saw the heavenly army that surrounded them in their thousands- which means the earthy people coming against them didn't even stand a chance. Now, I need to remind you that those were the times when the spirit of God wasn't given because Jesus Christ hadn't died and resurrected yet. The spirit of the lord hadn't dwelt amongst men yet, but see the protection that believers those days commanded. What do you think will happen now, in our days when we have the fullness of the spirit of God? When we have God himself living on your Inside?

In these times, we can even command angels and they'll answer to us because they're ministering Spirits sent to Serve man.

Hebrews 1:14

[14]Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

You are an heir of salvation. God has placed a lot for YOU- because he cares for you and he loves you.

Imagine having guidance 24/7 all year long.

Nothing can harm you. The devil can't toy with you without being battered and beaten horribly. No situation can hold you down. Nothing!

You see, all these privileges can come to you when you decide in your heart to accept this love the father has given out already. You can't do life alone and on your own, that's why God has placed assistance for you at every phase of your life.

Imagine this, my hands are open, I'm trying to offer you a gift but your hands are closed. You made fists with both your hands and you refused to accept my gift, even though I'm willing to give you.

You see, it's the same with this love we're talking about.

You've got to open your heart and your entire being to receive.

The things of God aren't difficult to comprehend for you, because you have the mind of God.

You were made in his image!

You need to let go of all the burden's you've placed on yourself. Release them to the Father and accept that he loves you and cares for you. 

Accept the outstretched hand of the father.

He sees you and he always hopes that you'd see that he loves you and He's willing to lift your load for you.

You weren't created to do life alone. God has your back but you have to let him in. He won't force you to let him help you. Instead, you have to willingly open up yourself. You have to freely let go and let the father take control. You need to consciously release it all. As soon as you do this, the relief and peace you get will be unimaginable!

Conclusion

The peace that comes with surrendering everything to the father cannot be fathomed by the human mind. So here’s my word for you today - Accept the Love of the father and let go of that weight. Christ is waiting for you - He always has, and he always will - so Be encouraged and know that God truly loves you.
