Many times, we use the words - faith and hope, to explain the other word and vice versa. While they are close synonyms , these words don't exactly mean the same thing. There are different meanings attached to them.
HOPE is the actual thing wished for, the belief or expectation that something wished for can or will happen.
FAITH is a trust or confidence in a person, it is the substance of things hoped for, evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). It is the belief of something that has not happened.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN FAITH AND HOPE
1. Hope is seeing the things you wished for while Faith is believing before seeing.
2. Hope is "It will". Faith is "It has happened".
Hope keeps you in the future but faith makes you feel like it has happened already. It gives you the future in your present state.
3. Hope says to Christ "I wish you could do this for me, Faith says to Christ "I trust you, not just your promises".
4. Hope is an optimistic attitude based on expectation or desire. Faith is confidence or trust in something or someone not based on proof (believing in things unseen).
5. Hope says there is a chance of it happening sometime in the future.
Faith says whatever you are hoping for is here now.
Both of them are important in our lives as Christians. Faith and Hope keeps us going.
Have hope in the Lord. Have faith that He will answer.
God bless you.
