God deserves to be praised for his faithfulness towards us and for his mercy which endures forever. Today, we have the privilege by the grace of God to go through devotional reading.
When you change your environment for example, maybe you moved to a new house or traveled somewhere for a while, you don't expect things to remain the same way as they were in the previous environment, right? What this means is that a change has occurred differently from what you have been used to. Let's see the passage of scripture below for a better understanding:
"For when ye were the servants of sin, ye were free from righteousness. [21] What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. [22] But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. [23] For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." (Romans 6:20-23)
Paul the apostle in speaking to the saints in Rome had to remind them of this very important truth that they used to be servants of sin and when that was the case, they were free from righteousness which may mean to say that they didn't do anything righteous. How can one be righteous who is a servant of sin?

And truly, there was nothing to be proud of then, not even the fruits of sin for the end of it all was death. Look what he says in the next verse (22), that now that they are servants to God, being freed from sin, they now have their fruit unto holiness and the end, everlasting life.
This is the change that occurs when one encounters Christ. A transformation from death to life, darkness to light, a life of sin to a life of righteousness, and then your fruits are unto holiness. If it is that you are now a believer in Christ Jesus, then these changes should be seen in your life. Are you producing fruits unto holiness or are you still a servant to sin? The Lord causes his word to dwell richly in your hearts. Amen.
Thought for the Day
Having been freed from sin, you are now a servant of God. Hence, you should only produce fruits that are in line with your new identity in Christ Jesus.
