In yesterday's devotional, we talked about the fact that it is one whom God loves that he corrects, isn't it? We also came to the understanding of the fact that we are not to despise the chastening of the Father for he would not correct us if he doesn't love us. Today, we shall continue in the lesson, and I trust the Lord to bless your heart by the reason of his word. Amen.
"If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? [8] But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons". (Hebrews 12:7-8)
Many people find it difficult to accept corrections, in other words, they are unable to endure corrections. If only they know that the reason they are being corrected is that they are considered as important, they will not frown at being corrected.
Just look what the scripture says, if we endure when God corrects us, changing each time he does so to doing his will, it's because God sees and deals with us as sons. He does this out of the love that he has for us.
If we on the other hand are allowed to be without corrections when we err, then we are bastards and not sons. This is because being sons, we are not to see the correction of God as burdensome for such rebuke and corrections are some of the ways through which the Lord constantly reminds us of who we are, and how we are to live. Do you endure corrections? Or are you without corrections? The Lord causes you to understand his word. Amen.
Thought for the Day
Will you love each time to be corrected by God when you err? Or would you love to be without his correction? Will you call yourself a son or a bastard based on your response to his correction?
