It Is Possible With God: Gospel Today Devotional - 3rd April, 2023

The scripture in Mathew 19 gives an account of an occurrence between our Lord Jesus, and a certain rich man. The scripture records that the man came to Jesus with a question of what thing he could do to be saved. And as expected, was answered by our Lord, and Saviour Jesus Christ but his answer to the man wasn't that which he wanted to hear.

It Is Possible With God: Gospel Today Devotional - 3rd April, 2023

We serve a God who would say things as they are, and not as we think they should be. He would alone speak that which we need to hear, and not that which we want to hear, and although we may not want to hear the truth as it is from him, the Lord would never deceive us for any reason. This was the same experience the man had.

Today, we shall by the grace of God be looking closely into that which the Lord said to this man, and picking from Jesus' statement lessons that apply to us as believers. We shall be looking at the verses of scripture below:

"Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. [24] And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. [25] When his disciples heard it , they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved? [26] But Jesus beheld them , and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible." ( Matthew 19:23-26).

Before verse 24, the man had come to Jesus to ask what he could do to have eternal life. First, he called the Lord Jesus good, and the Lord said none was good except one, God himself, and when it was time to give him an answer, the Lord Jesus did. He told him to keep all the commandments, and he said he had done that already (the man), and asked him what other thing he needed to do. The Lord then replied to him that he should sell all he has, give to the poor, and come follow him.

This left the man sorrowful, why? Because he had many possessions. Jesus then made a statement that it will be difficult for a rich man to enter into God's kingdom which made his disciples ask who could be saved then. And his reply to that particular question is the reason for our study today.

Jesus said to them that although it will be hard for a rich man to enter into God's kingdom it is not impossible. While it may be impossible with men, it is however possible with God. Isn't this exhorting? That the very things that are impossible with men, and that men may never be able to do are very much possible with God. This means that nothing is beyond his control. And if all things are possible with him, should we still be afraid and worried about those situations and circumstances? The answer is no. Please do remember this today, and always, that although things may impossible with men, it is never impossible with God. The Lord comforts your heart today in Jesus' name. Amen.

Thought for the Day: Do not fret or be afraid for that which is impossible with men, is possible with God.
